The area is also full of caves like the famous Grotte di Frassassi, with a cavern so big that the Duomo of Milan could fit in it. The Marche region boasts a rich and broadly distributed heritage of history and monuments, many cultural events and a countless number of country fairs all year round, mainly dedicated to the rich gastronomy of the area. But probably the most interesting thing about Marche is that it has not been exploited by mass tourism and it remains largely unknown outside of Italy. If what you seek is a peaceful stay in an authentic medieval hilltop town, away from the traffic and the prices of the coast, but just a few minutes away from the beaches, the National Park in the mountains and the luxury shoes outlets, then the medieval hilltop town of Montottone is a perfect choice. It's located right in the middle of a province full of jealously preserved fortified cities and villages, all dating back to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance period. It's an ideal base for a vacation because from here it takes only 25 minutes along a panoramic route to get to the closest beach, 20 minutes to reach a number of shopping outlets selling worldwide famous brands of Italian design (luxury shoes and other leather goods are the specialty of the area), about 40 minutes to be in the Sibillini Mountains National Park, and just a few minutes to get to some of the most beautiful medieval towns in the area. Montottone es un antiguo pueblo medieval encima de una colina y con una espectacular vista de los montes Sibillini. Es una base ideal para visitar toda la región porqué ofrece la posibilidad de estar en un sitio tranquilo, rodeado por la naturaleza, y a la vez muy cerca de las playas, del parque natural y de una zona famosa por la producción de zapatos, que cuenta con muchos outlets y centros comerciales.
