What joy feels like at Solfagnano

In autumn this avenue of trees smells of resin and damp earth, and the light comes in low between the holm oaks and the pines.
The wellbeing walk begins in the park. Phones and watches stay there. A guide leads the way through vines and olive groves, and the only instruction is to pay attention: to the sound of the leaves, to the air, to the rhythm of your own steps. When the view opens, the breath slows to meet it. Silence is broken only at the end, in the cellar, with a glass of the estate’s w**e and a taste of its oil

In autunno questo viale profuma di resina e di terra umida, e la luce entra bassa tra i lecci e i pini.
Il percorso benessere comincia nel parco. Telefoni e orologi restano lì. Una guida accompagna tra vigne e uliveti, e l’unica consegna è prestare attenzione: al fruscio delle foglie, all’aria, al ritmo del proprio passo. Quando il panorama si apre, il respiro rallenta.
Il silenzio si interrompe solo alla fine, in cantina, con un calice del vino della tenuta e un assaggio del suo olio

The two Timeless Suites are the largest rooms at the castello, and both reach into the towers. Curved white lines, a chair shaped like a seed, light falling in an arc across plastered walls, and eco-design solutions built into the room itself.

Le due Timeless Suites sono gli ambienti più ampi del castello. Linee bianche e curve, una seduta a forma di seme, la luce che disegna un arco sull’intonaco, soluzioni di eco-design integrate nella stanza.

copy: Nell’ottobre del 2024 il Castello di Solfagnano accolse il primo G7 dedicato all’inclusione e alla disabilità. Da quelle giornate nacque la Carta di Solfagnano, un impegno condiviso che porta il nome di questo luogo.

Oggi siamo stati a Roma, a Palazzo Chigi, ospiti del Ministro per le Disabilità Alessandra Locatelli, per celebrarne il secondo anniversario. È stata una giornata luminosa, fatta di storie, volti e progetti già in cammino, e soprattutto di idee nuove per gli anni che verranno.

In October 2024, Castello di Solfagnano welcomed the first G7 devoted to inclusion and disability. From those days came the Carta di Solfagnano, a shared commitment that carries the name of this place.

Today we were in Rome, at Palazzo Chigi, as guests of the Minister for Disabilities, Alessandra Locatelli, to celebrate its second anniversary. It was a bright day of stories, faces and projects already under way, and above all of new ideas for the years ahead.

A stucco figure in an oval frame. A bath set against red walls and a gilded frieze. A doorway that opens onto the next room, and then the next.
The twenty-five rooms at the castello are spread across the different wings of the villa, and each keeps a character of its own: its proportions, its outlook, its stone and its beams. The restoration brought them into the present and left each one what it had become.
Timeless Suites, Collection, Romantic. Three categories, and no two rooms alike.

Una figura in stucco in una cornice ovale. Una vasca contro pareti rosse e un fregio dorato. Una porta che si apre sulla stanza successiva, e poi su un’altra.
Le venticinque camere del castello sono distribuite nei diversi corpi della villa, e ognuna conserva un carattere proprio: proporzioni, affacci, pietra, travi. Il restauro le ha accompagnate nel presente lasciando a ciascuna ciò che era diventata.
Timeless Suites, Collection, Romantic. Tre categorie, e nessuna camera uguale all’altra.

Domenica in Vigna, 4 October.

For one afternoon we opened the doors of the Cantina del Castello di Solfagnano, and you came. Lunch among the vines, a glass in hand, the Casale behind us and the castello ahead. The weather could not have been kinder: a clear October sky, sun until the last light.

Domenica in Vigna grew from the Colaicovo family’s vision for the cantina: a place to be discovered, and shared. The castello’s own events team brought that vision to life. Lucia Pericolini oversaw every part of it, from the first idea to the last glass, and our team were exactly the hosts a place like this deserves.

The Abat-Jour played from four to six, and the music never stood apart from the day. It moved through the lawn, the tables and the conversations, until everything became one thing.

Thank you to SI EVENTI PERUGIA and Cukuc Perugia, whose cooking was equal to the view, and to abat-jour for the soundtrack.

Seeing the cantina finally discovered, and full of people, was the whole point. The next season of events is already being written. We would love to have you with us.

A morning from the red harvest at the Cantina del Castello di Solfagnano.
The pickers are in the rows before the sun clears the hills. The crates are red, the grapes darker. Each bunch is cut by hand, laid down, carried to the trailer at the end of the row. By the time the light reaches the vines, the first load is already on its way to the cellar.
W**e was kept inside these walls as early as the twelfth century, when the monks of Montelabate used the castle as their store.

Una mattina di vendemmia delle uve rosse alla Cantina del Castello di Solfagnano.
I vendemmiatori sono tra i filari prima che il sole superi le colline. Le cassette sono rosse, l’uva più scura. Ogni grappolo si taglia a mano, si posa, si porta al rimorchio in fondo al filare. Quando la luce arriva sulle viti, il primo carico è già diretto in cantina.
Già nel XII secolo, quando i monaci di Montelabate ne facevano il loro deposito, tra queste mura si conservava il vino.
