TUSCANY – Tuscany features numerous dog-friendly beaches, both free and equipped, allowing families to enjoy the sea with their pets. In the Pisa province, Calambrone’s Single Fin Tuscany Dog Beach offers shaded gazebos and unrestricted swimming. The Livorno province hosts several options, including Cecina’s Bau Beach with a dedicated swimming area, San Vincenzo’s Dog Beach and Piombino’s Pascià Glam Dog Beach, located in a natural park with pet showers. Further south in Grosseto, free beaches like Puntone di Scarlino and Punta Ala’s Bau Beach welcome all sizes, while Marina di Grosseto’s Fuorirotta Beach Club provides full amenities for leashed dogs. LIVORNO – The historic Coppa Barontini rowing race will return to Livorno’s illuminated Medicean canals on June 12 and 13. The 57th edition of the time-trial event will feature traditional wooden boats representing local districts racing through the city’s historic waterways. For the first time, the schedule expands across two days, with the 27th Coppa Fagni moving to Friday night, June 12, followed by the main Coppa Barontini on Saturday, June 13. Regional officials emphasized that the spectacular night race celebrates Tuscany’s maritime culture, local passion and democratic values associated with wartime resistance figure Ilio Barontini. SAN MINIATO – San Miniato Basso will host its annual “𝘗𝘪𝘯𝘰𝘤𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘰 Festival” along Via Tosco Romagnola Est across three Thursdays, including June 11, 18 and 25 from 7 p.m. to midnight. The 17-year-old tradition honors the famous puppet with fairy tales, live music, games and street performances featuring a giant Pinocchio. Residents are known as “𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘰𝘤𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘪” because the village itself was officially named Pinocchio until 1924, inspired by a historic pine tree. According to local history, author Carlo Collodi drew inspiration for his famous story from the area, which he frequently visited as a child while his father worked as a cook in San Miniato.
