ALTOPASCIO (Lucca) โ Three rare young black storks stopped at the Lago di Sibolla nature reserve in Altopascio, Lucca, during their migration from Europe to tropical Africa. Announced by the LIPU bird conservation group the sighting marks only the second recent appearance of the species at the reserve. While black storks returned to nest in Italy in 1994 after a millennium, the population remains under 50 breeding pairs and faces threats from wind turbines, power lines and poaching. Conservationists continue working to protect these majestic birds and their habitats. (๐ ๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ข๐ณ๐บ ๐ฃ๐บ Chiara Mattirolo)
