✈️ Flying to Europe soon?
The EU Entry/Exit System ( ) means a quick digital check when you enter & leave the EU✅
🛂 To avoid any issues when travelling, please take note of the following:
✅ If you're covered by the UK-EU Withdrawal Agreement (WA) and hold a Carta di Soggiorno, you’re exempt from registering in the EES.
📌 If you're still waiting for your card, carry your application receipt.
📌 If you haven’t applied yet, we strongly encourage you to do so.
⚠️ If you haven’t applied for a Carta di Soggiorno, older residence documents issued before Brexit will allow you to cross the border, but will not exempt you from EES registration.
⚠️If you are mistakenly registered in the EES, you can consult the Italian State Police website on EES where a form to amend or cancel your EES profile is available (https://www.poliziadistato.it/articolo/40768dcf5a0caa9c216882915).
✅ If you’ve been living in Italy since 1 January 2021, your Permesso di Soggiorno exempts you from EES registration.
✅️ British nationals visiting Italy for a short stay (not resident in the EU) must register in the EES at the border - airport or port. You’ll be directed to a kiosk or border official to provide biometric data and have your passport scanned.
