As part of the implementation of the Action Plan to Strengthen the Uptake of CFS Policy Products, endorsed at CFS 52 (2024), the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) is gathering concrete examples of how its policy products are being applied and used around the world.

To support this effort, CFS is developing a Digital Repository that will showcase experiences, lessons learned, and results achieved concerning the uptake of CFS policy products at the global, regional, national, and local levels.

Today, on International Youth Day, we recognize the vital role of young people in shaping sustainable, inclusive and resilient agriculture and food systems.

Youth engagement can contribute to agricultural renewal and the progressive realization of the right to adequate food and national food security, particularly in developing countries and rural areas.

Expanding equal opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship in agriculture and food systems can improve livelihoods and contribute to socio-economic advancement.

Investing in youth and strengthening their meaningful participation in decision-making processes is key to promoting sustainable food systems and advancing food security and nutrition.

The CFS Policy Recommendations on Promoting Youth Engagement and Employment in Agriculture and Food Systems for Food Security and Nutrition provide a valuable framework to support these efforts and foster an enabling environment where young people can contribute and benefit from more sustainable and equitable food systems. 🌍 🌱

El Comité de Seguridad Alimentaria Mundial (CSA) contribuyó a la conferencia internacional «Mujer Rural 2030: Innovación, Derechos y Desarrollo Sostenible en las Américas», un diálogo regional promovido por el Ministerio de la Mujer de la República Dominicana, mediante una declaración de la Vicepresidenta del CSA, S.E. la Embajadora Jhenifer María Mojica Flórez, y un video de presentación de las Directrices voluntarias del CSA sobre la igualdad de género y el empoderamiento de las mujeres y las niñas en el contexto de la seguridad alimentaria y la nutrición.

Sobre la base de una colaboración de larga data entre el CSA y la República Dominicana y su Representación Permanente ante la FAO, el evento brindó una importante oportunidad para dar a conocer las Directrices voluntarias del CSA sobre género entre las Ministras de los países miembros del COMMCA —Belice, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panamá y la República Dominicana— y otras partes interesadas de toda la región, así como para promover el diálogo sobre su difusión, adopción y aplicación a nivel nacional y regional. También permitió presentar las Directrices a las mujeres rurales y a sus organizaciones como una herramienta práctica para apoyar los esfuerzos en favor de la igualdad de género, el empoderamiento de las mujeres, la seguridad alimentaria y la nutrición.

El CSA agradece la colaboración del Ministerio de la Mujer de la República Dominicana, la FAO en la República Dominicana, la Oficina Regional de la FAO para América Latina y el Caribe, ONU Mujeres y otros socios que participaron en esta importante iniciativa. The Committee on World Food Security (CFS) contributed to the international conference “Rural Women 2030: Innovation, Rights and Sustainable Development in the Americas”, a regional dialogue promoted by the Ministry of Women of the Dominican Republic, through a statement by CFS Vice-Chair H.E. Ambassador Jhenifer Mojica Flórez and a video presenting the CFS Voluntary Guidelines on Gender Equality and Women’s and Girls’ Empowerment in the Context of Food Security and Nutrition (VG-GEWGE).

Building on a longstanding collaboration between CFS and the Dominican Republic and its Permanent Representative to FAO, the event provided an important opportunity to raise awareness of the VG-GEWGE among Ministers from the COMMCA member countries — Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and the Dominican Republic — and other stakeholders from across the region, and to encourage dialogue on their dissemination, uptake and implementation at the national and regional levels. It also provided an opportunity to introduce the VG-GEWGE to rural women and their organizations as a practical tool to support efforts towards gender equality, women’s empowerment, food security and nutrition.

CFS is grateful for the collaboration of the Ministry of Women of the Dominican Republic, FAO Dominican Republic, the FAO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, UN Women and other partners involved in this important initiative. We count on the continued support of FAO offices and partners across the region to further disseminate the VG-GEWGE and support their uptake and implementation.

As the International Year of the Woman Farmer continues, CFS looks forward to working with governments, UN agencies, regional organizations, rural women's organizations and other stakeholders to advance the dissemination, uptake and implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines on Gender Equality and Women’s and Girls’ Empowerment in the Context of Food Security and Nutrition (VG-GEWGE).

Today, we bid farewell to H.E. Ambassador Jhenifer Mojica Flórez as she concludes her term as Vice-Chairperson of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) and as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Colombia to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the World Food Programme (WFP).

The Committee on World Food Security extends its sincere appreciation for her dedicated service, exemplary leadership, and unwavering commitment to advancing food security and nutrition.

Reflecting on her tenure, Ambassador Mojica Flórez shared:"It has been a great honour to serve the Committee in this capacity and to contribute to strengthening the CFS as the leading multilateral and inclusive forum for policy convergence on food security and nutrition."

Throughout her role as Vice-Chairperson, she fostered inclusive, transparent, and evidence-informed dialogue, strengthening collaboration among Member States and the diverse range of CFS stakeholders. Her leadership helped reinforce the CFS as a trusted platform for inclusive dialogue and policy convergence, grounded in partnership and multilateral cooperation.

The Committee thanks Ambassador Jhenifer Mojica Flórez for her outstanding contributions and wishes her every success in her future endeavors. Her dedication to advancing a world free from hunger and malnutrition will continue to inspire the CFS community.

645 million people were hungry in 2025 and one in three people could not afford a healthy diet. 🌏 🌱

Nutrition is at the heart of SDG 2 Zero Hunger, but its importance extends across the entire 2030 Agenda. At this year's High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), the virtual side event Why Nutrition Matters for SDGs 6, 7, 9, 11 and 17 – and the Entire 2030 Agenda, highlighted its critical role in advancing sustainable development across sectors.

Bringing together governments, UN agencies, civil society, development partners and the private sector, the event emphasized the importance of stronger cross-sector collaboration through country experiences demonstrating how nutrition is being integrated into policies and programmes related to water and sanitation, resilient infrastructure, innovation and urban food systems. 🌱 🌍️

In his closing remarks, the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) Chairperson Professor Anas A. Al-Nabulsi highlighted that food systems, health, education, water, energy, social protection and urban development cannot be addressed in isolation.

Calling for coherent governance, stronger partnerships and coordinated action, reaffirming that improved nutrition outcomes require a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach, firmly anchored in the progressive realization of the right to adequate food.

Thank you to our moderators, speakers and participants for being part of the Collaborative Governance Dialogue on "Addressing Gaps in Information and Data Availability through Multi-Stakeholder Processes in Food Security and Nutrition."

The dialogue brought together Member States, UN agencies, civil society, Indigenous Peoples, the private sector, philanthropic and financial organizations, and the research community to explore how stronger governance and collaboration can help close critical data gaps in food security and nutrition.

Discussions examined the current state of play and emerging pressures, priority data gaps, governance and coordination challenges, as well as opportunities to strengthen the generation, sharing and use of evidence.

Through an interactive exchange, participants shared experiences and practical approaches to improve the availability, quality, coordination and use of food security and nutrition data across diverse contexts, including situations of fragility and protracted crises.

We look forward to continuing this work together to strengthen data systems that support better policies and better outcomes for food security and nutrition for all. 🌱🌍

The Committee on World Food Security (CFS) was pleased to participate in the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in New York , represented by its Chairperson, Professor Anas A. Al -Nabulsi.

Food security and nutrition are fundamental to achieving the 2030 Agenda and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. Strengthening the links between Rome and New York is key to ensuring these priorities remain at the heart of global sustainable development efforts. 🌍️ 🌱

The visit also provided an opportunity for a series of productive bilateral exchanges with key partners, strengthening collaboration and dialogue to advance global food and nutrition governance.

As discussions on continue, CFS remains committed to advancing inclusive dialogue, evidence-based policy, and partnerships that translate global commitments into action.
