Biodivercity IAP interview #6 Siena
🌳In the latest BiodiverCity IAP interview, Siena shares how its Integrated Action Plan is advancing urban biodiversity by connecting green spaces and empowering local communities. The plan focuses on nature-based solutions and ecological corridors that strengthen both biodiversity and people’s connection to nature in the historic city centre.
Siena’s IAP tackles key challenges like fragmented urban green areas, climate impacts and underused public space, while promoting sustainable access to nature for residents and visitors alike.
A standout feature is the idea of “healthy corridors” weaving biodiversity through the UNESCO-listed city, enhancing wellbeing, accessibility and community stewardship.
One inspiring practice from Siena is its long-standing collaboration with local associations and citizens, using formal pacts for shared care of green spaces — a great model for cities looking to integrate nature into everyday urban life.
Let’s celebrate Siena’s work to make biodiversity a shared priority! 🌱✨
