📣 Calling young entrepreneurs across the Mediterranean!

If you’re a young entrepreneur headquartered in a Mediterranean country, consider applying for the ARLEM Award for Outstanding Young Entrepreneurs — or share it with someone who should ✨

Are you a young entrepreneur shaping the future of your local economy?

The Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly (ARLEM), together with its partners and supporters, is launching its award for outstanding young entrepreneurs from Mediterranean partner countries.

This award recognises more than business success: it highlights the strong link between young entrepreneurs and the local or regional authorities that support them, showcasing how cooperation at territorial level can drive innovation, job creation, and sustainable development.

The award aims to:

👉 Promote inspiring examples of youth entrepreneurship across the Mediterranean;
👉 Demonstrate the positive role of local and regional authorities in strengthening entrepreneurial ecosystems;
👉 Show how young entrepreneurs actively contribute to local economic growth and a positive future narrative.

You are eligible if you are:

✔ A young entrepreneur aged 35 or under;
✔ Supported by your local or regional authority;
✔ Running a company for at least 3 years;
✔ Headquartered in one of the eligible Mediterranean partner countries.

Applications will close on 15 May 2026, don't miss this opportunity!

As discussions unfold at the EU Social Forum, one message is clear: skills are central to Europe’s future.

In the latest episode of our interview series, the ETF Director Pilvi Torsti speaks with Manuela Geleng, Director for Jobs and Skills at the European Commission (DG EMPL), about how Europe can respond to rapidly changing labour markets.

Their conversation explores some of the key questions shaping Europe’s skills agenda today:

🔹Why skills shortages are becoming one of the most pressing challenges for European labour markets

🔹How the Union of Skills aims to better connect education and employment systems

🔹The importance of lifelong learning, with the EU target of 60% adult participation in training by 2030

🔹Why stronger cooperation between institutions, companies and social partners is essential to deliver real change

A key takeaway from the discussion: Europe’s skills challenge cannot be addressed by education or employment policy alone. It requires cooperation across systems, sectors and countries.

This week in Turin, 35 representatives of Ukraine’s vocational education system are working with the European Training Foundation and Enabel on Centres of Vocational Excellence, a key EU priority under Erasmus+

These centres bring together schools, companies and local partners to deliver high-quality skills and support regional development.

For many participants, vocational education is not just reform: it is a way to prepare for reconstruction after the war and move closer to the European Union.
