Thank you to everyone who joined us for last night’s fascinating talk by Paul and Pete Lightbody.

Their entertaining and insightful stories from careers in both the Royal Air Force and civilian aviation made for an enjoyable evening.

We are also very grateful to Jersey Aero Club for generously hosting the event.

Events like these are just one of the many benefits of being part of the Royal Air Forces Association. If you have an interest in aviation, the RAF, or simply enjoy meeting like-minded people, we’d love to welcome you as a member.

A gentle reminder of this talk on Thursday, not to be missed. Please get in touch with our Chairman to book a space.

At tonight’s Committee meeting, we were delighted to wish our long-serving Vice Chairman, Peter Clarke, a very happy birthday.

As we mark Volunteers’ Week, it is also a fitting opportunity to recognise Peter’s remarkable commitment to the Royal Air Forces Association. Having dedicated an incredible 57 years of service to RAFA, his contribution and support have been truly outstanding.

Happy Birthday, Peter, and thank you for your service.

Remembering the Iraq War – 15 Years On
12:00 13:30
In May, the Royal British Legion will remember the 15th anniversary of the end of the War in Iraq and honour the extraordinary service and sacrifice of the British Armed Forces in the Coalition.

A daytime commemorative event is being held at 12pm at the National Memorial Arboretum, Staffordshire, on Friday 22nd May 2026 – the 15th anniversary of the end of Operation TELIC.

Here in Jersey, we will hold a short ceremony at the Cenotaph in St Helier, starting at 12.00. All are welcome to attend.

We will remember the lives lost and those affected and pay tribute to the professionalism and dedication of the men and women who served, from the initial invasion to the crucial rebuilding of Iraqi institutions and infrastructure.
