Today we held a first get together for people living with Fibromyalgia, ME/CFS, Long Covid and other chronic hidden disabilities.

What a powerful conversation about how people feel they are recognised, listened to, treated and supported. The upshot ..... there is much work to do!

Watch this space for next steps to make sure we are supporting everyone living with a disability as much as possible.

Looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference? Join Enable Jersey, a pan-disability charity supporting people living with long-term conditions and disabilities, as well as their family, friends and carers. We may be small, but we pack a big punch.

We’re looking for a compassionate and proactive individual to support clients across our services. You will play a key role in:

🟠 Managing support services and community projects across the charity.
🟠 Using your extensive experience in social care and knowledge of local services to provide advice, support, and information.
🟠 Support and supervise staff and volunteers.
🟠 Helping deliver positive outcomes for individuals, families, and carers.

Hours: Part time (20–25 hours per week)
Pay: £30–£33 per hour

Election Day 2026, a big day and big opportunity for Jersey. So our campaign reflections ....

In less than 24 hours we will see who said the right things and what issues are really important to voters.

Looking at candidates manifestos and having asked candidates to support our 4 key asks it was disappointing that issues around disability, accessibility and inclusion were so few and far between. That's at least 16,000 voices ignored. That just wouldn't be acceptable if we were talking about other parts of our community so why is it ok here?

For issues regarding health read hospital and medical health, at best mental health , no comment on other models or the need for answers and investment into a broken social care system.

Whilst we have made much progress over the last 4 years it's a shame that when it comes to it these key issues aren't seen as important enough as to warrant a headline focus.

Just remember, it just won't matter how big you build our new hospital if we don't look at ways of supporting our community it will never be big enough!

So, let's see how this works out and whoever we find leading our island for the next 4 years we have work to do!

This months session will be about digital accessibility. Geraldine Cardwell- UX and Accessibility Consultant will be joining us, she specialises in website delivery, with a particular focus on digital accessibility.

This involves ensuring that online platforms are designed to be usable by everyone, including individuals who rely on assistive technologies. This will be an engaging and interactive discussion, giving attendees the opportunity to explore websites, share their experiences, and help shape more inclusive digital services.

If you use any accessibility tools, then please bring these along with you.

Meet Your Election Candidates

Hustings are a great way to hear each candidate's priorities, where they stand on key issues, and how they will tackle Jersey’s biggest challenges. They will continue to take place until 3rd June.

There will be British Sign Language support at the Senatorial husting on 3rd June at the Radisson Hotel, from 7–9pm. Seating will be reserved at the front for Islanders with disabilities.
