With a history dating back to 1882, The Jersey New Waterworks Company Limited is the oldest established Company on the Island of Jersey. Growing to meet the challenges of a rapidly expanding Island population with limited natural water reserves – nearly all of the Island’s water supply is derived from rainfall. To do this we must collect untreated or ‘raw’ water, store it, treat it and then distri

bute it to our customers’ taps. You are welcome to visit our two biggest reservoirs at Queens Valley and Val de la Mare which have countryside trails for you to enjoy.

We’ve had some questions about why we don’t have a hosepipe ban in Jersey yet, so we thought we’d explain…

For now, we have enough water to meet the Island's needs, although this could change quickly, depending on the weather and customer demand.

We monitor reservoir levels, demand, rainfall and weather forecasts to predict how long our water supplies are likely to last and will only introduce a hosepipe ban when we reach a pre-determined trigger point. That's so we avoid unnecessary disruption for Islanders.

So, while there’s no hosepipe ban yet, it could happen. That’s why we’re asking everyone to use less water now to help our water last longer.

Easing off the hosepipes and sprinklers is a great place to start. You can find more water saving tips on our website.

A quick update if you’re visiting Queen’s Valley Reservoir…

We’re carrying out some planned maintenance work by the lower car park at Queen’s Valley Reservoir, starting this Monday (3 August). The work should take around five weeks.

You’ll still be able to use the car park, but please keep your eyes open for temporary signs and instructions about where it’s safe to drive and park.

The footpath will stay open as usual.

Geomarine is carrying out the work for us, so you’ll see their team and vehicles on site while the work is underway.

Update - Water is back on now. Once again, we’re really sorry for the inconvenience this afternoon. Initially customers might find that their water is a bit discoloured. If it is, it’s nothing to worry about. Gently run the cold kitchen tap for a few minutes until it clears. Our team will stay in the area to make sure everyone’s water is back on. We’re on hand if you need us.

Residents in La Rue de la Pigeonnerie, St Brelade...

We're carrying out emergency repairs to a water main in the area and, unfortunately, need to briefly turn off your water supply while the repair is completed.

Our teams are on it and working as quickly as possible to get things back to normal for those households affected.

We hope to restore water supplies within the next hour or so and will keep you updated here as work progresses.

We're sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience while we carry out these essential repairs.

We'll share further updates as soon as we have them.
