As technology becomes more sophisticated, so do the online scams. Deepfake videos, fake profiles and fraudulent messages are increasingly used to trick people into sharing personal or financial information.
The Government of Jersey will never ask you for bank details, payments or personal information via social media. If you receive a message that feels suspicious, don’t respond, don’t click, and don’t share your information.
Find out more:
• Check the official Government of Jersey website gov.je/BeSafeOnline
• Follow Jersey Cyber Security Centre for more advice and guidance.
Report suspicious posts or adverts to the social media platform - this makes it more likely that they'll be taken down, which could save other people from becoming victims.
If you are the victim of a scam:
• Contact your bank to block any fraudulent payments
• Report it to States of Jersey Police on 612612 or via: report.jersey.police.uk
