We are so very sorry to share the tragic news of the sudden death of member Audrey Watkins.

Audrey's warmth, generosity and joyful presence will stay us and with all who
knew her. Her love of life and her Irish culture was always evident at the many events organised by the Society which she attended. Laughter always marked Audrey’s spot at these events!

We send our sincere condolences to her husband Simon, daughter Ellen and son Liam, to her father Pearse, brother Colm, sister Helen and her many friends. Audrey
was pre deceased by her mother Gwen.

Relatives and friends wishing to attend the funeral service for Audrey, are warmly invited to meet in St Bernadette’s Church, St Brelade on Thursday 25th June at 11am. Bright colours with a touch of green to be worn please. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu of flowers, if desired, may be sent to; Jersey Hospice, Mont Cochon, St Helier.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the First Responders, Paramedics, Hospital Staff, dear friends and colleagues for their kindness and support.

The Society has been contacted by a charity in Mid Ulster called First Steps Women's Centre regarding a project called the Heritage Journeys Project.

Through the heritage project they would like to connect with women who have come to Mid Ulster from other countries and give them the opportunity to tell their stories, raise their voices and tell what it is like to leave their home country to come to live in Mid Ulster.

The stories will then be archived in Belfast’s Linen Hall Library for the benefit of future generations to access, study and learn. A dedicated website and accompanying booklet will further help share the women’s rich histories.

They have no women from Jersey currently in the project and would like to have some! If there is anyone out there reading this with links to any people or groups in the Mid Ulster area or if you are from Mid Ulster and would like to take part, please contact [email protected]

Tom Chapman RIP
Vice President Jersey Irish Society

On what should be an enjoyable weekend for all when we are blessed with glorious weather to enjoy, it is with regret and sadness that we advise you of the death and funeral arrangements of our longtime friend and member of the Jersey Irish Society, Tom Chapman.

Tom was a Chairman of the Society in the 1980s and heavily involved in the establishment and management of the Jersey Irish Society Club in La Motte Street. His plans for the proposed layout of the Club are attached to this notice. He continued over the years to demonstrate a pride in his Irish heritage, supporting events organized by the Society both through attendance and practical help delivered with his friend ‘Fergie’ Henderson, and supporting too the Jersey Irish GAA Club.
He had a keen interest in Irish history and an easy manner with friend and stranger alike. He will be much missed and we offer our sincere condolences to his wife Maureen, son Christopher, and daughter Gayle.

Tom’s funeral Mass takes place on Thursday 28th May (next Thursday) at St Thomas’s Church at 11am.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Honoured to be present at the Irish Embassy London on Monday evening and meet our President Uachtarán na hÉireann / President of Ireland Catherine Connolly. She spoke with meaningful sincerity as always as Gaeilge agus Béarla and showed remarkable energy meeting and speaking with guests following a full day including a visit to Buckingham Palace and a meeting with King Charles.
