Jersey Hospitality Association The JHA aims to unite Jersey's hospitality industry into a single powerful voice, helping businesses

Supporting Jersey's hospitality industry and as its trade association since 1957

Our resources are designed to support Jersey's hospitality industry and as its trade association we have a strategic role to provide leadership and direction for the development of the visitor economy so that maximum economic benefit can be achieved for the Island. The Jersey Hospitality Association (JHA), is a leadi

ng representative organisation. We aim to deliver real returns for our members, positively promoting the industry's priorities through partnerships with government, trade partners, other associations and organisations by effectively representing hospitality and tourism in Jersey. We identify key issues and formulate clear policies to reflect the views and needs of a diverse range of industry partners who, in terms of turnover and work force, represent an essential part of Jersey's economic infrastructure and its social landscape. Moreover, we continually monitor policies that have an impact on this important sector of the local economy. The JHA continues to develop a portfolio of benefits and services that are designed to support all hospitality businesses across all sectors whilst promoting best practice to ensure service delivery to underpin a positive consumer experience in order to maximise repeat business and develop growth from existing and new visitor markets.

It was more than a fight that should never have had to happen but we are thrilled that Bergerac is now doing well and into filming series 3, many congratulations to everyone who helped make this happen and congratulations to Visit Jersey for their continued superb work at putting our Island on the map.

We will get there, it’s just going to take some more time and continued relentless work, but it’s worth it as can be seen.

⛴️ ✈️ Tourism bosses say late bookings, Bergerac and improved connectivity have played a big part in increasing overnight visitors to Jersey.

A big congratulations to the entire team at the Hotel Cristina, Jersey on this fantastic award. It is great to see such outstanding customer service and such happy visitors, especially from Jet2.com & Jet2holidays who are really committing to our island and bringing an increasing number of tourists to Jersey. 👏👏👏

We have just been awarded the Jet2holidays Quality Award 🏆

Given entirely on the basis of guest satisfaction scores, this one means a great deal to us. It is not a panel decision or an industry vote, it is the direct result of every guest who felt genuinely looked after during their stay at Hotel Cristina.

As a family-run hotel, that is everything. Thank you to our incredible team, and thank you to every guest who made this possible 💙

There is far more to local produce than simply what’s on the plate…

Congratulations to our new JHA Supply Chain & Producers Sub-Sector Co-Chair, Paul Conway, on his feature with the BBC highlighting the challenges and opportunities facing Jersey’s farm shops.

If Jersey wants to become a leading culinary destination, every part of the food chain has to thrive. Farmers, fishers and producers are not just suppliers to our hotels and restaurants, they are an essential part of our visitor experience, our island’s identity, our quality of life and our diverse economy.

Visitors increasingly want authentic, local food experiences, and culinary tourism is one of the fastest-growing travel markets. Jersey is perfectly placed to flourish, but only if every piece of the puzzle is connected.

That’s exactly why we created Delicious Jersey – to champion our producers, celebrate local food and bring the industry together, from inspiring 10-year-old school children through the local ‘Burger Challenge’ to the Jersey Food Festival and the Dine Out Festival.

Supporting local produce isn’t just good for agriculture. It’s good for hospitality, it’s good for tourism and it’s good for Jersey.

Let’s all do our part to support, because we should be very proud of all we have on our little island, and it a delicious thing to do as well!

While we write the papers, Government commissions the consultants… Barbados just opened another luxury hotel.

While island governments elsewhere debate, defer and pay for reports that gather dust in a drawer, Prime Minister Mia Mottley stood at the ribbon-cutting for a new international resort this week and declared her country's tourism rehabilitation complete. Tourism is now ~45% of Barbados' GDP.

Her message to industry wasn't "let's review this again next quarter", it was airlift expansion, deeper local supply chains, and international investment on Barbados' own terms.

That's not luck. That's the difference between a destination with a managing-decline mindset and one that treats its visitor economy as critical national infrastructure, and acts like it.

Closer to home, the Isle of Man, a smaller island, a smaller visitor economy budget than Jersey's, already extracts more value per visitor night from its guests than we do. Every quarter spent commissioning another study instead of funding a decision is a quarter our competitors use to pull further ahead.

The constraint on Jersey's visitor economy is not demand, and it is not the market, it is policy.

Prime Minister Mia Mottley has declared that Barbados has completed its economic rehabilitation and is entering a new phase of tourism-driven growth, marked by a surge in hotel development and a strategic shift branded as “Tourism 3.0”.

This is excellent work by an outstanding Jersey company, led by fantastic people with real expertise in an area that deserves far greater attention.

Over three years ago we tried to help facilitate engagement between this business and Government. Despite every effort from the company, that opportunity never really materialised.

As an island, we rely on talented people from all over the world across hospitality, construction, agriculture, care, retail, finance and many other sectors. With that comes a responsibility to understand the complexities of ethical recruitment and worker welfare, and to ensure every stage of the journey is managed to the highest possible standard.

Jersey is fortunate to have globally recognised experts in this field based right here on our doorstep. What more could we want?

The question has to be: why has there been such a barrier to engagement?

A fascinating and important read. Congratulations to Tristan and the whole FSI/FairLink team for leading the way.

A JERSEY business is leading the fight against global modern slavery by championing the ethical recruitment of migrant workers in places like Dubai and Qatar. FSI Worldwide was co-founded in 2006 by Islander and former army major Tristan Forster and has pioneered the ethical recruitment and fair lab...

And the winner is… The “Ooey Gooey Crunch Burger!” 🏆🇯🇪

What a fantastic way to celebrate the culmination of the 5th Annual Jersey Hospitality Association Delicious Jersey x Samares Primary School Burger Challenge!

On Monday, the finalist teams joined us at The Mulcaster & 1823 Grill, where Randalls Jersey very generously hosted a special celebration and the announcement of this year’s winning creation.

After weeks of learning, researching, designing, costing, presenting and pitching, our Co-CEO and founder of this initiative Marcus Calvani had the pleasure of announcing this year’s champions to an understandably excited room of talented 10-year-olds!

Congratulations to the creators of the “Ooey Gooey Crunch Burger!”

Their winning burger featured:
A pure Jersey beef patty stuffed with cheese, wrapped in thinly sliced smoked bacon, served in a fresh locally baked bun, with locally grown lettuce & thinly sliced crispy Jersey Royal potatoes. 👌

The best part… every student then got to enjoy the winning burger together!

A huge thank you goes to our Association committee members Paul Dufty Sumas Restaurant, Jonathon Swaine, CEO of Randalls and Group Executive Chef David Cameron for so generously supporting this initiative and helping create such a memorable celebration for the children. Your commitment to nurturing Jersey’s next generation of food lovers and hospitality professionals is hugely appreciated.

Now in its fifth year, more than 125 local children have completed this unique term-long programme. Alongside discovering Jersey’s incredible local produce, farming, seasonality and reducing food waste, they’ve also developed skills in:

• Local food and responsible sourcing
• Teamwork and collaboration
• Concept development and innovation
• Brand and logo creation
• Market research
• Pricing, costing and profit margins
• Presentation and public speaking

These are genuine lifelong entrepreneurial skills, and seeing 10-year-olds embrace them with such enthusiasm and confidence is nothing short of inspiring.

The future of Jersey hospitality, food and entrepreneurship is in very safe hands.

Thank you to everyone who has helped this project grow over the past five years. Here’s to the Class of 2026!

Fantastic to see our JHA Supply Chain Sub-Sector Co-Chair, Paul Conway, and the team at the farm continuing to invest in the future of Jersey agriculture. It’s brilliant to see a local business modernising, innovating and responding to the growing demand for high-quality local produce.

One of the Jersey Hospitality Association’s key priorities is strengthening the links between our farmers, fishers, producers and hospitality businesses, ensuring that the incredible products grown and made in Jersey are not only a major draw for culinary visitors, but become an even greater feature on the menus of our restaurants, pubs, cafés and hotels.

Supporting local producers means supporting local jobs, reducing food miles, celebrating our Island’s identity and creating an authentic visitor experience that simply can’t be replicated anywhere else.

Congratulations to everyone involved, we look forward to seeing Jersey’s local produce continue to go from strength to strength.

🥕 Growing demand for local food has prompted plans to expand a popular Jersey farm shop.

Homefields wants to create a larger retail space, a butchery and outdoor seating area, saying more customers are keen to know where their food comes from and support local producers.

We are not just lucky to have Durrell on our Island, we are utterly blessed.

A truly world class and respected conservation entity, right here in our back garden, full of some of the most special, endangered species in the world.

‘The report also estimates that Durrell brought £1.13 million of new income into Jersey from outside the Island, including spending by tourists, international memberships and accommodation linked to visitors.

It added: “Closer collaboration with Visit Jersey and island accommodation providers could help unlock further revenue of this kind, supporting both conservation activity and the wider visitor economy.

“But it also creates exposure: tourist visitor numbers are not Durrell’s to control, and that financial dependency is worth recognising and understanding.”’

Something for us all to be very proud of, share with visitors and never take for granted.

Durrell generated an estimated £12.5 million for Jersey’s economy in 2024 while supporting almost 200 jobs, according to a new economic impact assessment. The report, produced by consultancy Derros, is the first in a planned series examining the wildlife charity’s impact on the Island, with fut...
