Roll and Stroll is Love to Ride's most inclusive challenge yet, and celebrates ALL active modes of transport, whether that is for all or part of your journey. It's a great time to remember that we are all road users, no matter how we travel.

The Highway Code says that we all have a responsibility. Here's a reminder of safe overtaking distances:

- When passing people walking on the road, allow at least 2 metres (6.5 feet) of space and keep to a low speed.
- When overtaking people cycling, travelling at up to 30 mph, leave at least 1.5 metres (5 feet) and give them more space when overtaking at higher speeds and on windy days.
- Pass horse riders and horse-drawn vehicles at speeds under 10 mph, and allow at least 2 metres (6.5 feet) of space.

Roll and Stroll is Love to Ride's most inclusive challenge yet, and celebrates ALL active modes of transport, whether that is for all or part of your journey. It's a great time to remember that we are all road users, no matter how we travel.

The Highway Code was updated in 2022 with advice for cyclists:
- People cycling may ride in the centre of the lane on narrow or quiet roads, in slow-moving traffic, or at junctions as this may be the safest position. Allow others to overtake when it is safe to do so.
- Two people can ride two abreast and it can be safer for them to do so, particularly in larger groups or when accompanying children or less experienced riders.

Shout out to all the children at Bel Royal School, Les Landes School Jersey, St John's School and St Saviour's School, Jersey who are doing Walk to School Week this week - a fun way to finish the half term and celebrate healthier, happier journeys to school.

It's also Better Journeys Week, where Islanders in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man are seeking different ways to travel.

You can take part in a small way or a big way. Everyone is invited. You could:

- take the bus or cycle instead of driving to work or school.
- walk/wheel a little bit further to or from the bus than usual.
- park further away and enjoy a longer walk to or from your workplace.
- join your school's walking bus or bike bus.
- challenge yourself to do all your journeys using active transport.

Whatever you end up doing, be sure to log your walking/wheeling and cycling journeys on Love to Ride as part of Roll and Stroll month. Each journey logged means entries into the prize draws: buff.ly/899RIUJ

Roll and Stroll is Love to Ride's most inclusive challenge yet, and celebrates ALL active modes of transport. It's a great time to remember that we are all road users, no matter how we travel.

In Jersey, we have several shared paths for people walking, wheeling and cycling.

In these shared spaces, cyclists should avoid close or fast passes, especially from behind, slow down when needed and give a clear warning such as a bell, and remember some pedestrians may be deaf, blind or partially sighted.
