For generations, when Jamaica got it wrong, many of our people could look abroad for opportunity. Today, that option is narrowing. Across the globe, countries are tightening their borders and adopting more restrictive immigration policies.
At the very same time, many Jamaicans are losing confidence in public institutions and withdrawing from the democratic process because they do not see government delivering at the level required.
These two realities are converging into one unavoidable truth: Jamaica has to get it right.
We cannot rely on migration as a safety valve. We must build a country that works, a government that delivers, and an economy that creates opportunity for all. The future of our people depends on it. Jamaica has to get it right.
