Yesterday, Constables L. Garriques and J. Kelly of the Trelawny Community Safety and Security Branch hosted the Youth Empowerment and Mentorship Initiative (YEMI) at the Falmouth Police Station in partnership with the NCDA.

In observance of Child’s Month 2026, the session featured a fun and interactive “Twin Day” activity where youth participants and their parents/guardians dressed alike and engaged in activities designed to strengthen family bonding, communication, and teamwork.

Participants enjoyed creative handprint canvas exercises, a twin-themed photoshoot, and an exciting game of “Two Truths and One Lie,” all aimed at building positive relationships and lasting memories.

Happy Mother’s Day to the Brave Mothers of the Trelawny Police Division.

Today, we celebrate the incredible women who serve not only as guardians of our communities, but also as loving, nurturing mothers in their homes.

To the mothers of the Trelawny Police Division, your courage knows no bounds. Each day, you face the dangers of duty head-on, standing tall in service to justice and the safety of our citizens. You wear the uniform with strength and pride, yet behind that beats the tender heart of a mother.

After long shifts, sleepless nights, and unpredictable calls, you return home to another full-time role, raising children with love, patience, and unwavering dedication. You are the quiet heroes, balancing the demands of public service with the immeasurable responsibilities of motherhood.

Your sacrifice does not go unnoticed, your strength is inspiring, and your love, both as officers and as mothers, is what helps shape a better, safer Jamaica.

From all of us, thank you. Happy Mother’s Day.

On Read Across Jamaica Day, officers visited Refuge, Duncan’s, Steven James Basic, Spring Garden Primary & Infant Schools as well as the Rio Bueno Early Childhood Institute.

Students were engaged in interactive reading sessions featuring stories from various novels, which were also explained to enhance understanding.

The sessions were lively, educational, and impactful, reinforcing the importance of literacy among our youth.
