One year ago, as Tropical Storm Melissa approached Jamaica, ODPEM was actively preparing for the potential impact, providing updates on the Agency’s readiness and reminding Jamaicans of the importance of disaster preparedness.

At the time, Richard Thompson, then Acting Director General of ODPEM, shared an update on the Agency’s preparations.

As we reflect on the events surrounding Hurricane Melissa, we look back at the impact and look forward to strengthening our preparedness and resilience for the future.
