Team RWSL was delighted to visit Watermount Infant & Primary School in observance of Read Across Jamaica Day 2026.

Returning to the Watermount community was especially meaningful, as it is home to the Watermount Water Supply System, a project designed to provide residents with safe and reliable access to water. It was heartening to hear how the improved water supply has positively impacted the school, including supporting the expansion of its capacity to accommodate more students.

Just as access to clean water helps communities and schools thrive, literacy empowers children to learn, grow, dream, and succeed. From storytelling and laughter to meaningful interactions with the students, the day was filled with inspiration, connection, and joy.

Let’s revisit the recent groundbreaking ceremony for the Stepney Rainwater Catchment Tank Project in St. Ann!

On May 22, RWSL was joined by the Ministry of Water, Environment, and Climate Change, community stakeholders, and residents for the groundbreaking and contract signing ceremony for this transformative J$140 million initiative.

This project represents more than infrastructure. It is an investment in people, community development, and improved quality of life. For residents, schools, and the wider community, the system will reduce dependence on trucked water and provide much-needed relief during periods of water scarcity.

RWSL remains committed to strengthening water resilience and improving access to safe, reliable water across rural Jamaica.
