🌍 Join us today, as we observe the fifth International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste (IDAFLW) under the theme “Climate Finance for Food Loss and Waste Reduction.”

This day highlights the urgent need for collaboration among public and private sectors and consumers to tackle food loss and waste. Addressing this issue is crucial for combating climate change, ensuring food security, and advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Food waste squanders valuable resources—water, land, and energy—and accounts for 8-10% of global agrifood system emissions, with methane being 28 times more potent than carbon dioxide. By reducing food loss and waste, we can protect our environment and enhance food access worldwide.

It's time to take action! IDAFLW 2024 calls for increased climate finance to promote sustainable practices and achieve the global target of halving food waste by 2030, as outlined in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 12.3) and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

Together, let’s work towards a sustainable future for our nation, the global community, and the planet!
