CREDITABLE PERFORMANCE

The Jamaica Defence Force Cricket Team turned in a creditable performance against Melbourne Cricket Club in their Jamaica Cricket Association Super 50 Competition over the weekend.

Melbourne Cricket Club set a target of 315 runs all out, and in reply, the men from Up Park Camp scored 228 all out. Melbourne won by 87 runs.

Team Captain Corporal Kevin Daley with a massive 107 runs and Lance Corporal Deethmar Anderson (49) were the top batsmen for the JDF while Corporal Kevin Daley (3 for 59) and Corporal Romaine McCalla (2 for 37) were the pick of the bowlers.

The JDF will face St Mary Cricket Association this Saturday in Up Park Camp beginning at 0930 hrs (9:00 am). Come out and show your support!!

A night of music, reflection and remembrance.

The National Poppy Appeal Festival of Remembrance brought together family, friends and supporters for an evening dedicated to honouring the courage, service and sacrifice of those who served.

The evening also highlighted the remarkable lives and service of two centenarian veterans, Mr. Aston Nehemiah Augustus Senior, who was present to share in the occasion, and Mr. Rexford Thame, who was represented by his daughter in his stead. Their stories and service provided a meaningful reminder of a generation worthy of our gratitude and remembrance.

The celebration was brought to life through performances by the Jamaica Defence Force Massed Band, Key Influence vocal group, guest artists Everton Pessoa and Jermaine Blake, and the Uhuru Drummers.

From stirring musical performances to moments of reflection and tribute, the evening was a meaningful celebration of remembrance.

MARCHING FOR THE CURE

Female servicemembers from across the Force joined Sagicor Jamaica in its Raise the Flag: This is Your Sign Campaign, aimed at reinforcing the importance of early detection and the different signs of breast cancer.

As part of the campaign, our servicemembers joined the march through New Kingston and participated in a symbolic flag raising of pink flags at the Sagicor New Kingston Branch.

October is recognised as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As a Force, we stand in solidarity with our sisters and their families whose lives have been affected by Breast Cancer. We also remember the brave warriors who have battled this illness and have made their transition from this life. We will remember them.
