The Jamaica Tertiary Education Commission (J-TEC) was established to be the national oversight body for the Jamaica tertiary education system; and performs regulatory, development and planning functions for the sector. JTEC sets standards and ensures that institutions have the capacity to offer quality education. J-TEC mission is to create a streamlined, efficient system and improve regulation and

accountability. It will review and advise on the financing of tertiary education, promote, market and disseminate information about the tertiary institutions in Jamaica. It will examine governing structures and frameworks for awarding degrees and setting standards, ensuring that they are consistent across institutions.
