Senator the Hon. .hill, Minister of , on May 28, 2026, charged the newly appointed Board Members of the Anti-Dumping and Subsidies Commission (ADSC) () to strengthen the institution and increase its effectiveness and national relevance.

Minister Hill told Chairman Richard Coe and the other Commission members that the ADSC “cannot stay as we are” and must become a stronger, more respected body with greater influence. He assured the Board of his support and advocacy.

Minister Hill also stated that he would want to see the ADSC become a reference organization in the Caribbean on anti-dumping matters.

He encouraged members to review the Commission’s mandate and identify the changes needed as global trade evolves and Jamaica adapts to a changing world.

The Immaculate Conception High School (ICHS) () Home School Association hosted its Annual Young Entrepreneurs Day on May 29, 2026, on the school campus. The flagship event provided students with the opportunity to showcase their business ventures, entrepreneurial talent and branding skills, with more than 40 student-led businesses on display.

In his remarks, Senator the Hon. .hill, Minister of encouraged students to continuously improve their businesses, collaborate with one another and take steps to formalize and register their enterprises.

Minister Hill toured some of the booths, engaging with the young entrepreneurs and learning more about their innovative products and services.

Strengthening international partnerships for mutual growth and development!

Yesterday our State Minister within the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, the Hon. Delano Seiveright, met with Ambassador of Spain to Jamaica His Excellency José María Fernández López de Turiso and Ms. Pilar Seret, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of Spain, to discuss areas of shared interest and potential collaboration. The engagement underscored the longstanding relations between Jamaica and Spain and explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, and business development for the mutual benefit of both nations.

The discussions reflect a continued commitment to fostering strong bilateral ties and creating pathways for expanded economic opportunities between both countries.

Senator the Hon. .hill, Minister , was joined by the Hon. Fayval Williams (), Minister of Finance and the Public Service (), for 30 Manufacturers’ Factory Tour of ’s White Marl and Lakes Pen facilities in St. Catherine on May 21, 2026, as the company celebrates 61 years.

The US$35 million investment made by Wisynco will expand their manufacturing capacity, and create 85 new jobs and 200 indirect jobs.

“Wisynco is one of Jamaica’s leading exporters. We can get rich when more of us focus on exporting. It is great to see what this Jamaican company is doing,” Minister Hill stated.

Minister Williams described the tour as eye-opening, noting the importance of understanding manufacturers’ concerns, including the effects of the proposed sugary drinks tax which was further reconsidered after consultations with JMEA and other stakeholders.

Remarks were also delivered by Ms. Kathryn Silvera, President of the JMEA, and Mr. Andrew Mahfood, CEO, Wisynco.

Senator the Hon. .hill, Minister , delivered the keynote address at Manufacturers 360 Conference on May 20, 2026, under the theme “Shaping the Future of Jamaican Manufacturing from All Angles: Robust Recovery for Resilient Growth.”

Minister Hill emphasized that Jamaica’s manufacturers must adapt to an increasingly unpredictable global environment shaped by supply chain disruptions, geopolitical shifts, and climate-related shocks. He urged the sector to embrace productivity, efficiency, technology, and exports as the four pillars of resilient growth.

He also called for greater investment in AI-driven systems, workforce upskilling, and export expansion. Minister Hill stressed that Jamaica must build a stronger export culture to close its longstanding trade imbalance and build stronger for the future.

Today, May 18, 2026, Senator the Hon. .hill, Minister of Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, welcomed Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (). The visit included the signing of a Letter of Intent between WIPO and the Jamaica Intellectual Property Office () to support the establishment of an Intellectual Property Training Institution (IPTI) in Jamaica under the WIPO Academy’s global IPTI programme.

The proposed institution will strengthen education, training and capacity-building for Jamaica’s innovation and technical services and intellectual property ecosystem, with activities expected to begin by year end.

This signing follows Minister Hill’s official welcome of Director General Tang and his delegation to Jamaica on May 16 at the Norman Manley International Airport. During his visit (May 16–20), Director General Tang will also engage senior government officials, entrepreneurs and stakeholders.

Big moves for Jamaica's future!

Senator the Hon. Aubyn Hill and WIPO Director General Daren Tang have signed a landmark Letter of Intent to establish an Intellectual Property Training Institution (IPTI) right here in Jamaica.

This means stronger IP education, innovation support, and entrepreneurship development — positioning Jamaica as the regional hub for intellectual property services in the Caribbean. 🌍

A technical working group is already mobilizing, with activities beginning this week.
