The Generation Procurement Entity has launched the largest renewable energy tender ever undertaken in the Caribbean initially comprising 220 MW of renewables paired with 110 MW of battery storage.

Building on strong market interest and the GOJ commitment to accelerating the energy transition, this now has increased this number to 300 MW of RE and 150 MW of battery storage, with the tender scheduled by August 2026.

This builds on the 100 MW of solar capacity awarded in 2024, bringing total new renewable additions to 400 MW. Taken together, these investments represent a decisive step toward enhancing energy security, reducing exposure to global oil
price volatility, and advancing Jamaica’s transition to a more resilient, sustainable, and diversified energy mix.
