Speaking at the post-cabinet press briefing on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Minister Williams outlined how the government allocated $67 billion in response to Category Five Hurricane Melissa, which impacted Jamaica in October 2025. 

Major allocations include:

• Economic Growth & Infrastructure Development – J$7.5B
• Local Government – J$4.6B
• Tourism – J$3.4B
• Water, Climate Change & Environment – J$3.2B
• Agriculture – J$3B
• Education – J$2.3B
• Health – J$2B
• Energy – J$1.5B
