The Southern Regional Health Authority is a statutory body of the Ministry of Health. which is responsible for the efficient health care delivery to residents of Manchester, Clarendon and St. As one of four regional health authorities across the island, the SRHA delivers service through a network of 74 health centres, 5 hospitals, 1 community hospital and 2 rural maternity centres.

From September 29–30, 2026, cooks from hospitals across the Southern Regional Health Authority participated in a two-day Culinary Fundamentals Workshop at the Mandeville Regional Hospital.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health & Wellness and Eat Healthy Jamaica, the training covered essential techniques, including knife skills, food preparation and plating, helping our teams enhance the quality and presentation of meals served to our patients.

🏆 Celebrating Our Healthcare Heroes in St. Elizabeth! 💙

Some 885 healthcare workers, primarily from St. Elizabeth were recognised and awarded recently for their dedication and resilience before, during and after the passage of Hurricane Melissa.

The Southern Regional Health Authority hosted an evening of elegance, honouring the healthcare heroes on Thursday, October 8, 2026 in St. Elizabeth.

Special recognition was also given to more than 30 team members from other parts of the southern region who assisted their colleagues in St. Elizabeth.

To our healthcare workers, thank you for your courage, compassion and commitment when your communities needed you most. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and you are truly appreciated! 💙👏🏽

❤️ Don’t Miss a Beat: Prevent, Detect and Treat!

On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, the Mandeville Comprehensive Health Centre hosted Rheumatic Fever Awareness Day, bringing together healthcare professionals and patients for a day focused on prevention, early detection and treatment.

Participants received comprehensive care and education, including medical assessments, ECGs (electrocardiograms), dental assessments and procedures, nutritional education, physical activity guidance and laboratory testing. The multidisciplinary approach highlighted how good nutrition, regular physical activity and proper dental care can support overall health and help persons living with rheumatic heart disease.

For rheumatic heart patient Jean Johnson, who is sixty two years of age, the day was also a reminder of the importance of staying committed to treatment.

Let’s continue to prevent, detect and treat rheumatic fever and protect our hearts, one beat at a time. ❤️
