💧🌍 Safe Water, Safe Food, Healthy Schools!

In observance of World Food Safety Day 2026, the Trelawny Health Department launched its Safe Water in School Initiative, reinforcing the critical link between safe water and food safety in educational institutions.

As part of the initiative, chlorine test kits (comparators) were presented to several schools affected by low or inconsistent water potability, including Daniel Town Primary School, Westwood High School, Sawyers Primary and Infant School, Ulster Spring Primary and Infant School, Brampton Basic School, First Hill Primary and Infant School, and Greenvale Early Childhood Institution.

The presentations also included health education sessions and demonstrations on how to properly use the comparators to monitor chlorine concentration levels and help ensure water safety for students and staff.

By empowering schools with the tools and knowledge to monitor water quality, we are taking another important step toward protecting public health and promoting safer learning environments.

In observance of World Food Safety Day, the Trelawny Public Health Services recognized outstanding Public Health Inspectors for their dedication and commitment to safeguarding public health through exemplary food safety practices throughout 2025.
