Jamaicans are being urged to take precautions and limit exposure to the Saharan dust plume currently affecting the island.
Excessive exposure to dust particles can increase the risk of respiratory illnesses such as asthma, COPD, respiratory infections, and allergies. It may also cause eye and skin irritation, especially among vulnerable groups including children, older adults, pregnant women, and persons with chronic respiratory conditions.
✅ Stay hydrated
✅ Keep windows closed when possible
✅ Wear a mask if spending extended periods outdoors
✅ Follow your prescribed medications if you have asthma or other respiratory conditions
Protect your health and stay informed during this period of increased dust concentration. 🌫️💙
