The Research and Development Division participated in the Eat Jamaican Day festivities on the lawns of Devon House on November 22 ,2024. The team showcased a wide range of fresh colorful crops and livestock byproducts from milk , pork and cheese with free goat and cows milk sample tasting.

One major highlight was the soft/mozzarella cheese live demonstration done with fresh milk produced from the Jamaica Hope Cows at the divisions dairy unit. Samples for tasting were also distributed to the patrons .

The Livestock Research and Improvement Unit participated in the 2024 Minard Livestock Show and Beef Festival at Minard Estate,Browns Town ,St.Ann. The day was filled with interactive activities and schools from all over the North Coast.

The team displayed Forage Conservation Methods, The Climate Smart Cattle Barn display and Artificial Insemination Techniques.

With the 2023 Denbigh show set for August 5-7, 2023, the livestock competition is one of the most captivating highlight from the show.

With numerous livestock famers competing, to maintain order and smooth transition of the different livestock classes competing , stewards play a vital role in maintaining such process .

Mr . Oral Senior, Livestock Research Officer and Cheif Steward and Ms. Karayan Holt , Livestock Research Officer and Ring Announcer along with the Jamaica Agriculture Society (JAS) provided training to over ten stewards to highlight and inform them of their various responsibilities within the show ring.

The Livestock Improvement Unit participated in the World Milk Day activities on Thursday June 1,2023 at the Sydney Pagon STEM Academy.

The day was filled with farmers engaging and exhibitors handing out free sample of their various milk based products.

The team distributed samples of our very own mozzarella cheese made from Jamaica Hope Cattle Milk and promoted our Multi Nutrient Block mineral supplement for ruminants
