The Jamaica Association of Public Health Inspectors (JAPHI) recognizes the PHIs across Jamaica who have performed exceptional on a yearly basis. This year however the Association has decided to set aside its traditional awards for Public Health Inspectors for the period October 2019 to September 2020, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Instead the awards will take the form of “COVID-19 Star Awards”. In that regard, three (3) Public Health Inspectors per parish will be recognized and awarded for outstanding contribution during the COVID-19 response/interventions.

Parishes were required to select three (3) awardees, two (2) of whom will receive a certificate of recognition, whilst the top PHI will be awarded the COVID-19 Star Award for the parish.

The most outstanding PHI in the COVID-19 response island wide will receive the “COVID-19 Gold Star Award, followed by “Silver Star” and “Bronze Star”. Additionally, there will be cash prizes for all 3 top awardees.
Who will it be?

It is customary for the Jamaica Association of Public Health Inspectors to have the celebration of Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) week in the 4th week of October each year.This year however due to the current pandemic we have had to do things differently having majority of our activities virtually.

We will be having a week of activites spanning from October 25, 2020 to October 31, 2020.

The week will commence with Church Services for both Sabbath and Sunday worshippers and culminate with our Virtual Award Ceremony.

As today is celebrated as National Heroes Day in Jamaica, the Jamaica Association of Public Health Inspectors wishes to thank the hardworking and dedicated Public Health Inspectors of the island.

They are unsung heroes on the frontline especially in the fight against this pandemic.
