تأسست بورصة عمان في 11 آذار 1999 كمؤسسة مستقلة لا تهدف إلى الربح ومصرح لها بمزاولة العمل كسوق منظم لتداول الأوراق المالية في المملكة.
وفي 20 شباط 2017 تم تسجيل بورصة عمان كشركة مساهمة عامة مملوكة بالكامل للحكومة وتعتبر شركة بورصة عمان الخلف القانوني العام والواقعي لبورصة عمان. وتدار شركة بورصة عمان من قبل مجلس إدارة مكون من سبعة أعضاء يعينهم مجلس الوزراء ومدير تنفيذي متفرغ يتولى إدارة ومتابعة الأ
عمال اليومية للبورصة.
تحرص بورصة عمان على إقامة علاقات تعاون مع البورصات والجمعيات والمنظمات العالمية وإبرام الاتفاقيات معها، والمشاركة في المؤتمرات والندوات العربية والعالمية وهي عضو فاعل في اتحاد أسواق المال العربية، واتحاد البورصات الأوروبية الآسيوية، والاتحاد الدولي للبورصات . The Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) was established in March 1999 as a non-profit independent institution; authorized to function as a regulated market for trading securities in Jordan. On February 20, 2017, the ASE has been registered as a public shareholding company completely owned by the government under the name "The Amman Stock Exchange Company (ASE Company)". The ASE Company shall be the legal and factual successor to the ASE. The ASE Company is governed by a seven-member board of directors appointed by the Prime Ministry with a full time chief executive officer oversees day-to-day responsibilities. To comply with international standards and best practices, the ASE works closely with the Jordan Securities Commission JSC on surveillance matters and maintains strong relationships with other exchanges, associations, and international organizations. The exchange is an active member of the Arab Federation of Capital Markets, Federation of Euro-Asian Stock Exchanges (FEAS) and a full member of the World Federation of Exchanges
