The 21st of July marks Belgium’s national day. As we celebrate this occasion, we reaffirm the values and priorities that continue to guide Belgium’s policies: democracy and rule of law, multilateralism, human rights, innovation and international cooperation. It also offers the opportunity to celebrate the strong relations between the Kingdoms of Jordan and Belgium and between Belgium and Iraq. 🇧🇪🇯🇴🇮🇶 On this occasion, the Embassy of Belgium in Amman will be closed on 21 July and will resume its normal working hours on 22 July.

Our sincere congratulations to our colleague Hamza Kharaillah on being awarded the Gold Medal of the Order of the Crown bestowed by His Majesty the King of the Belgians, in recognition of his 18 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Embassy as an Administrative officer and Ambassador’s driver. We thank him for his commitment and professionalism over the years and wish him every success in the future.

Friends and partners of Belgium gathered at the Belgian Residence to bid farewell to Ambassador Serge Dickschen and Mrs Lisa Dickschen upon the completion of their tenure, as well as Colonel Tom Bolsius, Belgian Defence Attaché, and our colleagues from the Defence Attaché Office, Tom Verschroeven and Pedro Colson.

As they embark on a new chapter, we thank them for their dedicated service and friendship, and wish them every success in their future endeavours.

The Belgian agency for international cooperation ENABEL convened policymakers and labour market stakeholders for the policy dialogue Employability in an Age of Shocks, held under the EU-funded Employment and Livelihood Programme (ELP). The Belgian Ambassador Serge Dickschen delivered opening remarks, alongside Heidi De Pauw, Country Director of Enabel in Jordan and Palestine, H.E. Dr. Abdul-Halim Doujan, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Labour, and H.E. Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, Ambassador of the European Union to Jordan.

The dialogue explored how skills systems and employment policies can better respond to economic uncertainty and equip people with the skills needed to navigate an evolving labour market.
