سر البرك الوردية بالبحر الميت

هذه الظاهرة غالبًا ما تحدث في هذا الوقت من العام بسبب ارتفاع درجات الحرارة، خاصة إذا كانت المياه شديدة الملوحة، واختلطت بالمياه العذبة.

إن ظهور اللون الوردي قد يكون نتيجة إفرازات ملونة من البكتيريا والطحالب التي تفضل البيئة المالحة والسبب هو طحالب ’دوناليلا سالينا‘ (Dunaliella salina) التي تنشط مع ارتفاع درجة حرارة المياه والملوحة، وتفرز مادة وردية تسبب تلون المياه، وهي ظاهرة منتشرة في سلطنة عمان والصين وأوكرانيا والسنغال".

ومن الجدير بالذكر أن دوناليلا سالينا لها قيمة اقتصادية فريدة في الغذاء والدواء والصحة والكيمياء وتربية الأحياء المائية وقد حققت هذه الطحالب إنتاجًا صناعيًا في بلدان مثل أستراليا والولايات المتحدة".
