H.E. Dato’ Ahmad Rozian, Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Japan, attended the ceremony of the resumption of Malaysia Airlines’ direct flight between Fukuoka and Kuala Lumpur at Fukuoka Airport on 3 September 2026.

In his remarks, H.E. congratulated Malaysia Airlines and its partners on the return of Malaysia’s national carrier to Fukuoka after almost 20 years. Operating five times weekly, the new route will provide travellers from Kyushu with convenient access to Malaysia while offering Malaysians greater opportunities to discover Fukuoka and the wider Kyushu region, and beyond.

The service represents an important milestone in strengthening Malaysia–Japan connectivity and is expected to boost tourism, business, trade and closer people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

The Embassy wishes Malaysia Airlines every success in bringing Malaysian Hospitality to even more travellers around the world.

H.E. Dato’ Ahmad Rozian, Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Japan, accompanied by officials from Pejabat Penasihat Pendidikan dan Latihan (PPL) Tokyo, paid a courtesy call on Ms. Hiroko Ota, President of the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS).

For H.E. Dato’ Ahmad Rozian, an alumnus of GRIPS, the visit carried profound personal significance. ‘Bagai sirih pulang ke gagang’, returning to his alma mater reflects the deep, lasting ties between GRIPS and Malaysia’s public administration.

Over the decades, Malaysia’s public service has benefited immensely from GRIPS post-graduate programmes. More than providing top-tier policy education, GRIPS has served as a vital platform for building international networks, meaningful cross-cultural connections, and lifelong friendships between future leaders of participating nations and Japan. Today, 156 Malaysian alumni, including key public sector leaders and diplomats, carry forward the leadership frameworks and global perspectives nurtured during their time in Japan.

The visit also reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to ensuring the strong foundation of friendship and professional collaboration continues to thrive for generations to come. The Embassy of Malaysia extends its heartfelt gratitude to President Hiroko Ota and the GRIPS faculty for their warm welcome and continuous cooperation.

ダト・アフマド・ロジアン次期駐日マレーシア大使は、大使館の教育研修部（PPL）の担当官とともに、政策研究大学院大学（GRIPS）の大田弘子学長を表敬訪問しました。

GRIPSの卒業生でもあるダト・アフマド・ロジアン大使にとって、今回の訪問は個人的にも大変意義深いものでした。「まるで実が柄に戻るように」という言葉が示すように、母校への帰還は、GRIPSとマレーシアの行政機関との間に築かれた深く永続的な絆を象徴しています。

数十年にわたり、マレーシアの行政機関はGRIPSの大学院プログラムから多大な恩恵を受けてきました。GRIPSは最高水準の政策教育を提供するだけでなく、参加国と日本の将来のリーダーたちの間で、国際的なネットワークや、有意義な異文化間のつながり、そして生涯にわたる友情を築くための重要なプラットフォームとしての役割を果たしてきました。現在、政府の要職にあるリーダーや外交官を含む156名のマレーシア人卒業生が、日本滞在中に培ったリーダーシップのあり方やグローバルな視点を活かして活躍しています。

また今回の訪問は、友情と専門的な協力関係の強固な基盤が、今後何世代にもわたって発展し続けるようにするというマレーシアの決意を改めて確認するものとなりました。マレーシア大使館は、大田弘子学長およびGRIPS教職員の皆様の温かい歓迎と継続的なご協力に対し、心より感謝申し上げます。

H.E. Dato’ Ahmad Rozian, Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Japan, received the team from MISC Liaison Office Japan comprising Captain Chetan Budhraja, Head and Mr. Amir Reduan, Manager, at the Embassy today.

MISC Liaison Office Japan provided an overview of MISC Group, a leading international maritime company with more than 55 years of experience and a global workforce of over 10,000 employees from more than 40 nationalities.

The team also highlighted MISC Group’s diverse solutions across the maritime-related energy value chain, supported by its modern fleet of vessels and floating assets, as well as its commitment to advancing the maritime industry and contributing towards a just energy transition. MISC Berhad’s extensive global footprint allows it to deliver a wide range of solutions that cater to various areas within the maritime-related energy value chain, including Japan.

MISC日本リエゾンオフィスから、MISCグループの概要について説明がありました。MISCグループは、55年以上の実績を持ち、40か国以上から集まった1万人以上の従業員を擁する、世界有数の海運会社です。

また一行は、最新の船舶および浮体式設備を基盤とした、海事関連のエネルギー・バリューチェーン全体にわたるMISCグループの多様なソリューションに加え、海事産業の発展と公正なエネルギー転換への貢献に向けた同グループの取り組みについても強調しました。MISCは、広範なグローバル展開を生かし、日本を含む海事関連エネルギー・バリューチェーンの様々な分野に対応する幅広いソリューションを提供しています。

H.E. Dato’ Ahmad Rozian, Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Japan received a courtesy call from the Soka Gakkai Office of Public Affairs, led by its Director, Mr. Takeshi Tsurubuchi.

The discussion focused on Soka Gakkai’s active participation in global initiatives promoting peace, culture and education, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), youth stocktake initiatives and strategic dialogues. Mr. Tsurubuchi also conveyed a congratulatory letter from Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada on the occasion of Malaysia’s 69th National Day.

H.E. Dato’ Ahmad Rozian commended Soka Gakkai’s various contributions, particularly in promoting peace, cultural and educational cooperation between Malaysia and Japan, as well as its efforts to address global challenges. He also highlighted the education collaboration between Malaysian universities and Soka University, that has benefitted hundreds of students from both countries.

会談では、持続可能な開発目標（SDGs）や、若者の参画を促す取り組み、戦略的対話などを含む、平和、文化、教育の推進に向けた創価学会の積極的な活動について話し合われました。また、鶴淵部長より、マレーシアの第69回ナショナルデーに際し、原田稔創価学会会長からの祝賀状が手渡されました。

ダト・アフマド・ロジアン大使は、特にマレーシアと日本の間の平和、文化、教育における協力の促進や、地球規模の課題解決に向けた取り組みにおける創価学会の様々な貢献を称賛しました。また、マレーシアの大学と創価大学との間で行われている教育協力が、両国の数百名もの学生に恩恵をもたらしてきたことを強調しました。

Accompanied by Pejabat Penasihat Pendidikan dan Latihan (PPL) Tokyo, H.E. Dato’ Ahmad Rozian, Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Japan, paid a courtesy call on Dr. Nakashima Hideharu, President of the National Institute of Technology (KOSEN), at the Takebashi Office, Tokyo.

The 51 KOSEN colleges in Japan have accepted international students from various countries and regions, including more than 2,300 Malaysian students since 1984.

The Ambassador-designate expressed his appreciation to KOSEN for its continued cooperation in supporting the smooth progression of studies and the well-being of Malaysian students in KOSEN.

The close collaboration between both countries remains an important foundation for strengthening human capital development and expanding opportunities for educational cooperation.

日本の国立高専51校は、様々な国や地域から留学生を受け入れてきました。1984年から、2,300名を超えるマレーシア人学生も学んできました。

大使は、高専で学ぶマレーシア人学生の円滑な学業の進捗と福祉を支えるための、同機構による継続的な協力に対し、感謝の意を表しました。

両国の緊密な連携は、人材育成の強化や教育分野の協力の機会拡大のために重要な基盤であり続けています。

The Embassy had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from the AFS Intercultural Programmes Malaysia – Japan on 26 August 2026. Since 1958, the AFS Malaysia-Japan student exchange programmes have bridged cultures and transformed lives by facilitating exchanges for 1,473 students, and playing a pivotal role in strengthening the people-to-people ties between the two nations.

The meeting served as a valuable platform for AFS to provide updates on its ongoing exchange initiatives in Japan. Discussions also centred on addressing current operational challenges to ensure the sustained and successful implementation of these mutually beneficial programmes. Both sides engaged in a productive exchange of views on strategic enhancements, with a particular focus on initiatives to attract more Japanese students to pursue exchange opportunities in Malaysia.

2026年8月26日、大使館はAFS Intercultural Programmes Malaysia （AFSマレーシア・日本異文化プログラム）の代表者の訪問を歓迎しました。1958年以来、AFSのマレーシア・日本間の学生交流プログラムは、1,473名の学生の交流を促進することで文化の懸け橋となり、参加者の人生に変化をもたらすとともに、両国間の人的な絆を強化する上で極めて重要な役割を果たしてきました。

今回の会合は、AFSが日本で行っている交流プログラムについて最新の状況を説明する貴重な場となりました。また、これらの相互に有益なプログラムを持続的かつ成功裏に実施していくため、現在の運営上の課題への対応についても議論が交わされました。双方は、特に、より多くの日本の学生がマレーシアでの交流の機会に関心を持つことを促すための取り組みを中心に、戦略的な改善策について実りある意見交換を行いました。

H.E. Dato’ Ahmad Rozian, Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Japan, received Mr. Kudo Yasushi, President of Genron NPO, at the Embassy today.

Mr. Kudo briefed the Ambassador-designate on the Tokyo Conference and Asia Leaders Roundtable, scheduled to take place in March 2027.

Both sides also exchanged views on the current geopolitical landscape. The Ambassador-designate highlighted the increasingly complex and challenging geopolitical and economic environment confronting the international community and underscored the importance of continued dialogue and international cooperation in addressing these shared challenges.

工藤氏は、2027年3月に開催予定の「アジア円卓会議」について大使に説明しました。

また双方は、現在の地政学的情勢についても意見を交わしました。大使は、国際社会が直面する地政学的・経済的環境がますます複雑かつ困難なものとなっていると指摘し、こうした共通の課題に対処するためには、継続的な対話と国際協力が重要であることを強調しました。
