We were so fortunate to host a Craft and Artist Retreat here at Yui Valley, created by our dear friends .zr and 🌿✨
The days were filled with workshops, experiences, and meaningful encounters with local Japanese artists and craftspeople from our region.
Some of the activities included:
Dai, with incredible teachers .wada.52 and , hosted bamboo weaving workshops where we experienced both the strength and flexibility of this remarkable natural material.
There was also a beautiful Green Tea Dyeing workshop with Washizu-san, where everyone created their own unique designs and learning the art of natural dyeing with tea.
We were also privileged to participate in a beautiful Wara workshop by , where we gained a deeper appreciation for the spiritual significance and craftsmanship involved in working with natural materials.
The talented generously shared the process behind his extraordinary woodworking practice. The skill, patience, and artistry behind each piece are truly remarkable.
We enjoyed an inspiring soba-making workshop by at their beautiful traditional restaurant, where we experienced the precision and craftsmanship required to create handmade soba noodles.
A huge thank you to who prepared the most incredible meals each day for the guests, her artistry in the culinary word is unforgettable. And she brought so much joy to every guest throughout the retreat.
We also prepared daily breakfasts everyday for the retreat, a special time sharing each morning together, feeling the smiles and laughter of everyone around.
It was such an honour to meet so many wonderful people and to share this special time together. And a huge huge thank you to .zr for creating this beautiful retreat.
As hosts, we too through Naama, also got to experience the gathering of such incredible craftsman around us, and connect with the wonderful Israeli friends she gathered together. It was truly such a special time and one we will always cherish. 🤍🤍
