今日はあかしや保育園を初めて訪問しました！ホールに入ったら、子どもたちが自分から「Hello」と挨拶してくれて嬉しかったです。😊

今日のレッスンはゲームがいっぱいだったので、子どもたちが喜んでいました。一番人気だったのは、「色探し対決」でした。先生が色を言ってから、2人の子が室内でその色を探して、早く見つけた方が勝つゲームです。最初は左右を見て迷っていた子が数人いましたが、色の単語を覚え、その色の場所が分かると、パッと見つけられるようになりました。

最後に、シール配りした際に、ほぼ全員が星のシールを選んで取りました。その後、子どもたちとハイタッチをした時、高い位置まで届く子が多くて、ビックリしました！
今回の訪問が楽しかったので、次回も楽しみにしています。😊

Monday, August 31st
Today, I visited Akashiya Nursery School for the first time! When I first entered, I was happy to be greeted with Hello's from the kids. 😊

Today’s lesson was full of games, and so the kids were excited throughout. The most popular game was the “color-search showdown.” In this game, two kids are chosen to search for a color in the room, and whoever finds the color first wins. At first, there were many kids who would look around the room lost, but as they got used to the color vocabulary and the colors around the room, they were able to find them almost instantly.

Lastly, when it was time to pass out the stickers, almost everybody chose the star stickers. After that, when I high-fived with everyone, I was surprised by how high the kids could jump!
This visit was very fun, and I look forward to the next time! 😊

今日は志文保育園を初めて訪問しました！志文保育園の子供たちはどのよう感じだろうと考えて行きましたが、話をしてみると、元気な子どもたちだとわかりました。

最初は、子どもたちと仲良くなれるように、私が「Hello!」と言ってからみんなに真似をしてもらいました。大声でも、低い声でも、お化けのような声でも？！何回も楽しく繰り返してくれてみんなニコニコでした。

今回のレッスンテーマは「色」でした。ビックリしたのは、志文保育園ではピンクが大人気でした！「ピンクが好き？」と聞いたところ、ほぼ全員が手をあげて「好き！」と答えてくれました。

室内での「色探し」などの遊びで少しずつ色の単語に慣れてくれて、最後には言えるようになった子がたくさんいました。次回またみんなに会えるのを楽しみにしています！

Friday, August 28th

Today, I visited Shibun Nursery School for the first time! I wondered how the kids at Shibun Nursery School would be, but after speaking with them, I realized they were quite a lively bunch!

First, to get acquainted with everyone, the kids practiced repeating “Hello!” with me. In a big voice!!!! In a quiet voice... In a monster voice?!?! The kids were smiling widely afterwards, laughing.

Today’s lesson was about colors. I was surprised to learn that pink is very popular at Shibun Nursery School! When I asked if they like pink, I was shocked to hear them say “I do!!” while energetically raising their hands.

Through various games like searching for colors around the room, the kids slowly got acquainted with the various colors in English and were able to say them by the end! I look forward to next time!

皆様、初めまして。ジェニファーさんの後任、ワイルダー・カムデンと申します。二年前にアメリカのノースカロライナ州から初めて来道して、道東の遠軽町の小中学校で英語を教えていました。これから私が子どもに英語を教えますので、どうぞよろしくお願いいたします。

今日は日の出保育園を訪問しました！😊保育園で英語を教えるのは初めてでした。緊張していましたが、子供たちの笑顔を見て安心できました。

今日の話題は「色」でした。最初に子供たちの好きな色を尋ねたら、元気よく「Blue」とか、「Green」とかを教えてくれて嬉しかったです。😊

前回の「気分」のレッスンを歌で復習してから、今日のテーマである「Red」、「Green」、「Pink」などの色を一色ずつ教えました。そして、色探しゲームを楽しみました！私が色を言って、子供たちが一人一人部屋の中でその色を探しました。自分の服にその色があると気づいて、嬉しそうな顔を見せる子が何人もいました。

色探しの後は、「じゃんけんレース」を行いました！色のカードを床に一列に置き、子供たちは2チームに分かれて、その一列の両端に並びました。その位置からカードの色を言いながら一人ずつ進んで、相手と会ったら、じゃんけんをして、勝った方がそのまま進み、負けた方はチームの最後尾へ戻るゲームでした。すごく楽しい時間でした！

Everyone, nice to meet you! My name is Camden Wilder, and I am Jennifer’s successor. I first came to Hokkaido two years ago from North Carolina in the US, and I taught English in Engaru in East Hokkaido. I am looking forward to teaching English to your children from now on!

Today, I visited Hinode Nursery School! 😊 It was my first-time teaching English at a nursery school, so I was nervous, but as soon as I saw the children’s smiles, I was put at ease.

Today’s topic was “colors”! When I first asked everyone what their favorite colors, I was happy to hear everyone’s cheerful answers like “blue” and “green”! 😊

After reviewing the last lesson about “emotions” through a song, I taught various colors like “Red,” “Green,” and “Pink” one by one following today’s theme. Then, we enjoyed a color-finding game! I would say a color, and everyone would find that color within the room. There were many kids smiled happily when they realized that the color was also on their own clothing!

After the color-finding game finished, we had a “rock-paper-scissors race”!! Cards with colors were laid in a row on the ground, and everyone split up into two teams. The teams then stood at opposing sides of the row of cards. From there, the kids would say the colors on the cards as they moved forward, and whenever the encountered an opponent, they would play rock-paper-scissors, and the winner would continue forward while the loser would return to the back of their team’s line. It was super fun!!

🇺🇸ポカテロ親善訪問団、無事に岩見沢へ帰ってきました！🇯🇵✨

7月28日に岩見沢を出発したポカテロ親善訪問団が、本日、全員無事に新千歳空港へ到着しました！✈️

帰国便は無事に成田空港へ到着したものの、台風の影響で予定していた新千歳行きの便が欠航に…🌧️

急きょ成田空港から羽田空港へ移動し、振替便で新千歳空港へ向かうことになりました。

長時間のフライトに加え、最後の最後に思わぬハプニングもありましたが、全員元気に北海道へ帰ってくることができ、本当にホッとしています😊

ポカテロでは、たくさんの方々との出会いや交流、そして日本ではできない貴重な経験をさせていただきました🇺🇸✨

約2週間のホームステイを通して、楽しかったことはもちろん、言葉や文化の違いに戸惑ったことも含めて、一つひとつの経験が団員たちにとって大きな財産になったことと思います。

温かく迎えてくださったポカテロのホストファミリーの皆さん、姉妹都市協会の皆さん、そして訪問団を支えてくださったすべての皆さん、本当にありがとうございました！

そして団員の皆さん、長旅本当にお疲れさまでした👏✨

🇺🇸 Our Pocatello Friendship Delegation made it back home safe! 🇯🇵✨

Our delegation departed from Iwamizawa last month on July 28 and has now safely arrived at New Chitose Airport! ✈️

The delegation first arrived from the U.S. at Narita Airport, but due to the typhoon, their connecting flight to New Chitose was canceled. 🌧️

They had to make an unexpected trip from Narita Airport to Haneda Airport, where they got on another flight to Hokkaido.

After a long journey and one final unexpected adventure, we are very relieved and happy that everyone has made it home safely! 😊

During their time in Pocatello, the delegates had so many wonderful experiences, made new friends, and created memories that they will carry with them for many years to come. 🇺🇸✨

Through nearly two weeks of homestays, they experienced not only many fun and exciting moments, but also differences in language, culture, and everyday life. We believe that each and every experience helped them grow and will become a very special part of their lives.

To all of the wonderful host families, the Pocatello Sister Cities Committee, and everyone who welcomed, supported, and cared for our delegation — thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts! ❤️

And to all of our delegates — great job and welcome home! 👏✨

12時間のフライトを経て成田空港に無事到着しました！
しかし、台風の影響により成田空港から新千歳空港行きの便が終日欠航になってしまいました。
急遽、羽田空港から新千歳空港行きの振替便に変更となり、20:30出発で帰ります✈️

トラブルはあったものの、団員全員元気に過ごしてます💪🏻

After a 12-hour flight, the delegation arrived safely at Narita Airport! ✈️

However, due to the typhoon, all flights from Narita to New Chitose Airport were canceled for the rest of the day.

Their flight was quickly rebooked, so they will travel from Narita to Haneda Airport and catch a new flight to New Chitose Airport, departing at 8:30 p.m. ✈️

Despite these unexpected hurdles, everyone is doing well and staying positive! 💪🏻

とうとうホストファミリー達とのお別れの時間が来てしまいました…😭
早朝4時にポカテロ市役所に集合し、姉妹都市協会のメンバー以外のホストファミリーとはここでお別れです👋🏻
出発の時間が迫っている中、離れるのが寂しくてなかなか車に乗り込めませんでした😭

空港に到着し、改めて預け荷物の整理をした後は、荷物を預け保安検査を通り、姉妹都市協会のメンバーともお別れです👋🏻
最後の最後、私たちの姿が見えなくなるまで待って見送ってくれて、ついに飛行機に搭乗しました🛫
朝早い中お見送りに来てくれてありがとうございました🙇🏻‍♂️

まずは無事デンバー空港に到着し、次は成田へ向かうフライトを待っているところです✈️
行きよりも更に時間がかかりますが、長距離フライトのために夜寝ないで過ごした団員もいるので、きっとたくさん寝ることができるでしょう😴

2026/8/10 Pocatello Friendship Delegation Report 🇺🇸

It was finally time to say goodbye to our wonderful host families…😭

Everyone gathered at Pocatello City Hall at 4:00 a.m., where the delegates said goodbye to the host families who could not join us at the airport 👋🏻
Even though it was almost time to leave, it was so hard for them to say goodbye that they could hardly bring themselves to get into the cars 😭

After arriving at the airport and reorganizing their checked luggage one last time, the delegates checked their bags and headed through security. It was then time to say goodbye to the members of the Sister Cities Committee as well 👋🏻

They stayed and waved goodbye until the very last moment, watching until we were completely out of sight. Then, finally, it was time to board the plane 🛫
Thank you so much for coming to see us off so early in the morning! 🙇🏻‍♂️

We have now arrived safely at Denver International Airport and are waiting for our next flight to Narita ✈️

The trip home will take even longer than the journey to Pocatello, but some of the delegates stayed up all night so they could sleep on the long flight home 😴
Hopefully they’ll get plenty of rest on the way back to Japan!
