Food, Fun, and Festivities: the Mihara Handon Night Market Returns!🏮👘🌇
🎐One of Mihara City’s anticipated summer events, the Mihara Handon Night Market has returned for another season, bringing the sights, sounds, and excitement of summer to the city. With a history spanning more than 100 years, this cherished local tradition continues to delight residents and visitors alike.🌛✨
 
🏮Held on Saturday evenings from June through early August, the night market transforms the streets of Mihara into a vibrant gathering place filled with laughter, energy, and community spirit. Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of stalls serving delicious festival foods, games such as “shateki (target shooting)”, and an assortment of local goods and other attractions.
Having visited the night market myself, I was struck by its warm and welcoming atmosphere. The lively crowds, colorful stalls, and festive ambiance perfectly capture the charm of a traditional Japanese summer festival.🍧🎯👘
 
🗓️With several event dates still to come, whether with family, friends, or exploring on your own, now is the perfect opportunity to see, experience, and enjoy this long-standing local tradition. Come and create lasting summer memories at this night market!☺️🌇✨

🎐三原市で毎年多くの人が楽しみにしている夏のイベント「三原半どん夜市」が、今年も開催されています。夏の景色や賑わい、心躍るような雰囲気が通り一帯に広がる中、100年以上の歴史を持つこの伝統行事は、今なお、地元の人々や訪れる人々を魅了し続けています。🌛✨
 
🏮6月から8月上旬にかけて、毎週土曜日の夜に開催されるこの夜市は、お祭りの定番グルメを楽しめる多彩な屋台のほか、射的などの昔ながらの遊びやさまざまな出店が並び、訪れる人々を楽しませます。
実際に訪れてみると、その温かく迎え入れてくれるような雰囲気に心を打たれました。にぎやかな人々の様子や色とりどりの屋台、そしてお祭りならではの空気感が、日本の伝統的な夏祭りの魅力を存分に感じさせてくれます。🍧🎯👘
 
🗓️開催期間はまだしばらく続きますので、皆さまお誘い合わせのうえ、長く受け継がれてきたこのイベントへお越しください。この夜市で心に残る夏の思い出を作りましょう。☺️🌇✨

The “Satsuki Matsuri” A festival of Music, Colour and Energy🌺🎶✨
🎉On the final weekend of May, the 35th Mihara City Satsuki Festival was held around the Miyaura Park Area. Blessed with beautiful weather throughout the two-day event, large crowds of people came to enjoy its lively atmosphere, colourful displays, and wide range of performances and activities.🎭
 
🍽️At this event, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the many festival stalls offered a wide variety of local food and drinks and had some of my personal favourites of yakiramen, spare ribs, and kakigori!🍜🍧
There were also indoor and outdoor stages where talented performers captivated audiences with their music and dance performances.💃🏻
In addition to the cuisine and performances, I also saw a number of special exhibitions which displayed many things, including a fire engine, a police patrol car, and even an opportunity to see vehicles used by the Japan Self-Defense Forces up close.🚓🚒
 
☀️Although this festival has come to an end, it was a truly memorable and enjoyable event that showcased the energy and spirit of the local community. I am already looking forward to seeing what next year’s Satsuki Festival has in store.☺️✨

音楽と彩り、そして笑顔あふれる「第35回三原さつき祭り」🌺🎶✨
🎉5月最後の週末、宮浦公園周辺にて「第35回三原さつき祭り」が開催されました。2日間を通して天候にも恵まれ、会場は多くの来場者でにぎわいました。音楽やダンスのステージをはじめ、多彩な催しが行われ、祭りならではの活気に包まれました。🎭
 
🍽️会場にはさまざまな屋台が並んでおり、私も焼きラーメンやスペアリブ、かき氷などのグルメを堪能し、思わず夕食がいらないほど楽しんでしまいました。🍜🍧
また、屋内外のステージでは音楽やダンスが華やかに繰り広げられており、出演者たちの素晴らしいパフォーマンスと会場の熱気を存分に味わうことができました。💃🏻
さらに、消防車やパトカー、自衛隊車両の展示も行われ、普段はなかなか見ることのできない車両を間近で見学することができました。🚓🚒
 
☀️今年のさつき祭りも、多くの笑顔と賑わいに包まれた思い出深いイベントとなりました。また来年、三原さつき祭りを楽しめる日が今から待ち遠しく思います。☺️✨

New Colourful Nishikigoi Brings More Charm to Ukishiro Castle🐟🏯✨
🎏On the 22nd of May, around 170 Nishikigoi (ornamental koi carp) were released into the moat of the Mihara Castle Ruins. The release was carried out as an initiative of the Mihara Branch of the Hiroshima Association of Corporate Executives as part of its efforts to enhance the scenery around the castle ruins. Under the "Mihara Koi Castle Town Concept", it was one of the projects included in the Mihara City Central Business District Revitalization Basic Plan.🏯📸
 
🐟Back then, I was amazed to see so many koi of different sizes being released gracefully into the moat, with some reaching around one metre in length. Each fish displayed its own unique combination of brilliant colours and striking patterns, creating a truly vibrant sight. Just by adding the ~170 new koi to the already existing population, the moat has become even more lively and colourful.👀✨
 
🍀Visitors may also wish to keep an eye out for a particularly rare white koi bearing a large red heart-shaped marking on its head. According to local lore on a nearby sign, spotting this special fish is said to bring good fortune in love. So be sure to stop by and enjoy the beautiful koi-filled waters. And who knows? You might even be lucky enough to find the rare heart koi!🐟❤️

色鮮やかな錦鯉が三原城跡の堀に新たな魅力を添える🐟🏯✨
🎏5月22日、三原城跡の堀に約170匹の錦鯉が放流されました。これは、広島経済同友会三原支部が「みはら鯉の城下町構想」の一環として実施したもので、城跡周辺の景観向上を目的としています。「みはら鯉の城下町構想」は、三原市中心市街地活性化基本計画に位置付けられている事業の一つです。🏯📸
 
🐟放流された錦鯉は、体長1メートル近いものから小ぶりなものまでさまざまでした。一匹一匹が鮮やかな色彩と美しい模様をまとい、堀の風景をより華やかに彩っています。今回新たに約170匹の錦鯉が加わったことで、堀はさらに活気と彩りに満ちた空間となりました。👀✨
 
🍀また、頭に大きな赤いハート形の模様を持つ珍しい白い鯉にも注目です。近くの案内板によると、この特別な鯉を見つけると恋愛運に恵まれるという言い伝えがあるそうです。ぜひ三原城跡を訪れ、美しく泳ぐ錦鯉たちの姿を楽しみながら、幸運を呼ぶ「ハートの鯉」を探してみてください。🐟❤️

Learning the Heart of Japanese Rice Farming🚜🌾
🌱On the 7th of May, I had the wonderful opportunity to experience rice planting in Kuicho, Mihara City. As it was my first time, I was very excited to not only plant rice by hand, but also try the challenge of operating a rice transplanter machine. All the while, I had many opportunities to ask questions and learned much about the great care, effort, and expertise that farmers dedicate to grow Koshihikari rice from transplanting the seedlings into the paddies in Spring all the way through to the harvest in Autumn.🚜✨
 
🌾This experience was not only a fun and memorable one, it also gave me a much deeper appreciation for the hard work and dedication that farmers put into producing such high-quality rice right here in Mihara City as well as in the rest of Japan.🍙🗾
 
🍚A huge thank you to .7.01 for welcoming us to your farm and for sharing this wonderful experience with us. I'm already looking forward to seeing the harvest this coming Autumn!☺️🙏🏼🍂

日本の稲作の魅力を学ぶ🚜🌾
🌱5月7日、三原市久井町で田植えを体験するという貴重な機会をいただきました。
手で苗を植えるだけでなく、田植え機の操作にも挑戦できて、また、初めての田植え体験だったのでとてもワクワクしました！体験中にはたくさん質問をする機会もあり、春の苗植えから秋の収穫まで、コシヒカリを育てるために豊富な経験を使って農家の皆さんがどれほど丁寧に手間をかけているのかを学ぶことができました。🚜✨
 
🌾今回の体験は、楽しくて思い出深いだけでなく、日本のおいしいお米を作るために、農家の皆さんが日々努力されていることを改めて実感できる素晴らしい時間になりました。🍙🗾
 
🍚温かく迎えてくださり、この貴重な体験をさせていただいた .7.01 の皆さま、本当にありがとうございました！

Moments of Spring: Cherry Blossoms in Mihara📸🌸
☀️As the days grow warmer and longer, a variety of flowering plants begin to bloom, bringing a vibrant burst of colour to landscapes across Japan. Among them, the most eagerly anticipated is the cherry blossom, or sakura. Having been in full bloom until recently, I am sure that many people all over the country have been taking time to appreciate their beauty by visiting local parks, gardens, shrines, and temples.🌳🧺
 
🏙️In Mihara City, soft shades of pink and white from cherry blossom trees can be seen scattered across the surrounding mountains. That said, you don’t have to travel far to enjoy these iconic flowers. This year, I once again visited some of my favourite spots near JR Mihara Station, where I took in the cherry blossom-filled scenery on a warm spring day. 🚶📸

春のひととき：三原の桜景色📸🌸
☀️日が長くなり、暖かさが増すにつれて、さまざまな花々が咲き始め、日本各地の風景を鮮やかに彩ります。中でも、ひときわ待ち望まれているのが桜です。つい最近まで満開だったこともあり、各地で多くの人々が桜を眺めるために、公園や庭園、神社仏閣を訪れ、その美しさを楽しまれたことでしょう。🌳🧺
 
🏙️三原市では、周囲の山々に点在する桜が、淡いピンクや白の彩りを見せていました。とはいえ、この象徴的な花を楽しむために遠出する必要はありません。今年も私は、JR三原駅の周辺にあるお気に入りのスポットを訪れ、暖かな春の一日を満開の桜とともに過ごしました。🚶📸

国際交流員（CIR）として三原市で3周年！ 🇳🇿🎉
📍4月12日、三原市に赴任してからちょうど3年という節目を迎えました。 ✈️🇯🇵
 
💫この1年は、忘れられない思い出や新しい経験にあふれた、とても充実した一年でした。やっさ祭りや浮城まつりなどのイベントへの参加をはじめ、SNSを通じて三原市の魅力発信に取り組んだり、子どもから大人まで幅広い世代を対象に文化体験や出前講座を行なったりと、多くの貴重な経験をさせていただきました。こうした活動を通して、CIRとしての自信も深まり、仕事のやりがいも一層感じられるようになりました。 👨‍🏫🇳🇿
 
中でも、私の活動がテレビで紹介されたことは、とても印象に残る出来事で、一生の思い出になりました。 📺✨
 
🤝また、私が三原市に来て出会った多くの優しくて素敵な方々とのつながりを、さらに深めることができたことにも心から感謝しています。皆さまの温かいご支援と優しさに、日々支えられています。 ☺️❤️

Sakura and Fireworks in Daiwa-cho, Mihara🌸🎆
🏮Last Saturday on April 4th, the 12th Hakuryuko Fireworks Festival was held in Daiwa-cho, Mihara City. Known to be the first fireworks display each year to be held in Hiroshima Prefecture, this event took place during peak cherry blossom season. During which, it also provided everyone in attendance the chance to enjoy the beauty of sakura in full bloom while sampling delicious local food from the many stalls at the venue.🍜🍡🥟
 
🌙This year, despite experiencing rain throughout most of the day, the skies cleared up enough just after dark. From which, around 1,000 fireworks were launched, creating a stunning display of light and color against a backdrop of cherry trees in full bloom.🎆🎇
 
📸As it was my first time experiencing this beautiful event, I made unforgettable memories as I went on to enjoy tasting festival food under the sakura trees, taking photos along the riverside, and, of course, being completely captivated by the fireworks from start to its spectacular finale. For a moment, it honestly felt like I had stepped right inside a painting.🌌🖼️✨
 
💫Although this year's event has ended, I can't wait to see the fireworks by the sakura-lined riverside at Hakuryuko again next year!🌸☺️

三原市大和町で桜と花火を満喫🌸🎆
🏮4月4日（土）、三原市大和町で第12回白竜湖花火が開催されました。この花火大会は、広島県内で今年最初の花火大会です。桜が満開を迎える時期に行われ、美しい桜を眺めることもでき、会場に並ぶ屋台でグルメも楽しめるイベントでした。🍜🍡🥟
 
🌙今年は日中こそ雨が降り続いていましたが、日没後にはようやく上がりました。そして、満開の桜を背景に、約1,000発の花火が打ち上げられ、光と色が織りなす幻想的なショーが広がりました。🎆🎇
 
📸今回初めてこの素晴らしいイベントを訪れた私は、桜の下で屋台の食べ物を味わったり、川沿いで写真を撮ったり、そして何より、最初から最後まで花火の美しい演出に心を奪われたりと、忘れられないひとときを過ごしました。まるで絵の中に入り込んだかのような気分でした。🌌🖼️✨
 
💫今年の開催は終わりましたが、来年もまた白竜湖の桜並木とともに花火を楽しめる日が、今から待ち遠しいです。🌸☺️

⚓️On March 30th, Mihara City had the pleasure of welcoming the cruise ship Le Soléal. Launched in 2013 with a capacity of up to 264 guests and 145 crew members, this French vessel is known for blending refined elegance with cutting-edge technology, offering a luxurious and comfortable experience for everyone aboard.🇫🇷✨
 
🎉Marking its first-ever call at Itozaki Wharf in Onomichi-Itozaki Port, the ship was greeted by a delegation from Mihara City with a warm welcome ceremony. Guests and crew were introduced to local cuisine and traditional crafts through food trucks and stalls set up at the port, showcasing the region’s unique specialties.🍜🎎
 
💐Following an exchange of kind words and commemorative gifts, the ceremony concluded, and guests were invited to explore at their leisure through activities such as taking in the scenic surroundings, experiencing local specialties, and enjoying the charm of the area. We hope everyone aboard Le Soléal had a memorable visit and created lasting impressions of Mihara City!🇯🇵❤️🛳️

⚓️3月30日、三原市にクルーズ船「ル・ソレアル号」が寄港しました。2013年に就航し、最大264名のお客様と145名のクルーを乗せることができます。このフランスのクルーズ船は、洗練された優雅さと最先端の技術を兼ね備え、快適で贅沢なクルーズ体験を提供しています。🇫🇷✨
 
🎉尾道糸崎港・糸崎岸壁に初めて寄港したル・ソレアル号は、三原市の代表団による温かい歓迎式典で迎えられました。港には地元の料理や伝統工芸品を紹介するキッチンカーやブースが設けられ、乗客や乗組員は地域の魅力に触れるひとときを楽しみました。🍜🎎
 
💐和やかな雰囲気の中での挨拶や記念品の交換をもって式典は終了し、その後、乗客の皆様は美しい景色を眺めたり、地元の特産品を味わったりしながら、三原の魅力を思い思いに満喫されました。ル・ソレアル号にご乗船の皆様にとって、今回の三原市での滞在が心に残るひとときとなりましたら幸いです。🇯🇵❤️🛳️
