🌏 ImpactLink 2026 is officially underway!

On 8 August 2026, the ASEAN-Japan Centre and Proficeo welcomed 30 women entrepreneurs from 9 ASEAN countries — Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam — to the Orientation Session for ImpactLink 2026: Strengthening Impact and Readiness to Access New Markets for Women-led Social Enterprises in ASEAN.

Over the coming months, this cohort will work through workshops on market alignment, impact storytelling, and pitch development — including a dedicated deep-dive into the Japan market — before 10 participants are selected for personalised coaching toward an online pitching session with Japan and ASEAN buyers in February 2027.

This builds on ImpactLink 2025, which supported 33 entrepreneurs and helped 7 enterprises reach the ASEAN Inclusive Business Forum. We welcomed Wanping Aw and Stacie Phyo from ImpactLink 2025 to share their journey and how they have made successful impact based on the learnings from the ImpactLink 2025.

We are honored to celebrate this special day at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, joining the Exhibition of ASEAN Entities and Centres of Excellence.

We had a wonderful time meeting so many people today, including having some fun together with kendama! 🇯🇵✨A special thank you to SG Kao for giving it a try, too! 🙌

📣Applications are now open for the 2026 ASEAN–Japan SME Cybersecurity and Market Expansion Programme

The ASEAN–Japan Centre, in partnership with the ASEAN Business Advisory Council, invites growth-oriented and digitally active SMEs from ASEAN Member States to strengthen their readiness for secure cross-border business and engagement with the Japanese market.

Through practical learning, digital-readiness assessments, and expert guidance, participants will explore:
- Cybersecurity and digital-risk management for SMEs
- Japan’s digital business and data-governance environment
- Secure and scalable digital infrastructure
- Cross-border data management and responsible AI adoption
- Go-to-market strategies for Japan
- ASEAN–Japan networking and co-innovation opportunities

Up to 50 SMEs will be selected for Phase 1, comprising live online sessions and self-paced learning.

Participants who demonstrate the required readiness and engagement may proceed to Phase 2, which will provide targeted mentoring, co-creation, networking, and opportunities to engage with Japanese businesses.

The programme is particularly relevant to ASEAN SME founders, CEOs, CTOs, managing directors, and senior decision-makers responsible for digital strategy, operations, business development, or international expansion. Applicants are not required to have a specialist cybersecurity background.

The AJC at Thailand Content Market 2026 🇹🇭🎬

The ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC) is participating in Thailand Content Market 2026 in Bangkok organised from July 20-22.

📍Day 1
Following the Opening Ceremony, delegation led by DITP's executives, Ms. Banjongjit Angsusingh, Advisor to the Minister of Commerce, and Ms. Sunanta Kangvalkulkij, Director General of DITP and the AJC's Council Director for Thailand, visited the AJC booth, where we introduced participating seven companies and one organizations from Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, and Viet Nam.

📍Day 2
AJC hosted a talk session titled "Japan-ASEAN Content Co-Creation: Expanding Business Opportunities through IP, Licensing and Partnerships."

The panel brought together speakers from a Japanese company, JETRO, Thailand's Creative Economy Agency (CEA), a Vietnamese company, and Visual Industry Promotion Organization (VIPO, from Japan), offering valuable perspectives from both the public and private sectors across the region.

📝Some key takeaways included:
- ASEAN is not only a market, but also a source of talent, cultural assets, production capacity, and ideas.
- Content IP should be seen not only as something to sell, but as a long-term asset that can be developed together with local partners.
- Successful collaboration requires the right partners, localization, transparency, realistic expectations, follow-up, and mutual trust.
- Localization goes beyond translation and requires local market understanding.
- Governments and supporting organizations have an important role in creating an environment where international collaboration can thrive.

The diverse perspectives made for a highly informative discussion and highlighted the strong potential for deeper ASEAN–Japan collaboration in the creative and content industries.

We were also honored to welcome Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, former Prime Minister of Thailand, as well as Mr. Napintorn Srisunpang, a Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office in Thailand to our booth.
