ハイジが新宿駅に登場🏔️🇨🇭

7月27日（月）から8月9日（日）までの期間、ヨハンナ・シュピリの有名小説を原作とするアニメ『アルプスの少女ハイジ』のハイジが、JR新宿駅（東口地下通路）に登場しています。

スイスで愛され、日本でも長く親しまれてきたハイジ。なんと、このたびネスレ日本の「未来を考えよっ課」の「係長」に就任しました。これにあわせ、世界で最も利用者の多い新宿駅でのポスター掲出やショートフィルムの公開が行われます。食・環境・資源といった「持続可能な未来（サステナビリティ）」に向けたメッセージを発信しています。

持続可能性は、スイス、そしてスイス企業にとっても重要なテーマです。日本とスイスの文化の架け橋として、時代を超えてインスピレーションを与え続けるハイジのユニークな取り組みを、新宿駅をお通りの際にはぜひチェックしてみてくださいね ✨

Heidi makes a stop at Shinjuku Station 🏔️🇨🇭

From Monday 27 July to Sunday 9 August, Heidi, from the anime “Heidi, Girl of the Alps” inspired by the famous Johanna Spyri novel, will be appearing in the underground passage at JR Shinjuku Station (East Exit).

A cherished character in Switzerland who has also long been close to hearts in Japan, Heidi has taken on the new role of 'Section Chief' for Nestlé Japan’s ' Let's Think About the Future' Department. To mark the occasion, posters and a short film are being showcased in the world’s busiest station, sharing inspiring messages around sustainability, food, the environment, and natural resources.

Sustainability is a priority for Switzerland as a nation and for Swiss businesses. Serving as a cultural bridge between Japan and Switzerland, Heidi continues to inspire across generations. If you happen to pass through Shinjuku Station, do stop by and check out this unique initiative ✨

🇨🇭 8月1日はスイスの建国記念日——日本での祝賀イベント🇨🇭

建国記念日に際し、世界各地のスイス人コミュニティが様々な行事でお祝いします。日本でも、東京と関西の各スイス・クラブ主催による温かい祝賀イベントが開催されました。それぞれの会場では、ギー・パルムラン スイス連邦大統領からのビデオメッセージが上映されたほか、ゲストによる記念スピーチが行われました。

📍関西のイベントには、在日スイス大使館からダヴィッド・ブラウン臨時代理大使が出席し、両国の深い絆とコミュニティへの感謝を込めたスピーチを行いました。
📍東京のイベントには、エイドリアン・シーバー総務・領事部長が出席。スイスが大切にする3つの価値観、「責任感」「実践主義」「信頼」の大切さについて触れ、お祝いの言葉を述べました。

その後参加者は、伝統的なパフォーマンスや美味しいスイス料理・ワインを囲みながら、交流のひとときを楽しみました。日本に暮らすスイス人とその家族、そしてスイスを愛する日本の友人の皆さまが集い、記念すべき日を祝う心温まる機会となりました。

素晴らしいイベントを主催し、この大切な伝統を守り続けて下さる Swiss Club Tokyo およびスイス・ソサエティ・オブ・カンサイの皆さま、ありがとうございます🎉✨

🇨🇭 August 1st is Swiss National Day — Celebrations in Japan 🇨🇭

Over the last few days, Swiss communities around the world have celebrated our National Day with various events. Here in Japan, lively events were hosted by the respective Swiss Clubs in Tokyo and Kansai. At both venues, a video message from the President of the Swiss Confederation, Guy Parmelin, was screened, followed by commemorative speeches from our guests.
📍 At the Kansai event, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. David Braun attended and delivered a speech highlighting the deep bonds between our two countries and expressing his gratitude to the community.

📍 At the Tokyo event, Adrian Sieber, Head of Chancery and Consular Affairs at the Embassy of Switzerland in Japan, was in attendance. In his speech, he shared celebratory remarks while touching on the importance of three core values cherished by Switzerland: "responsibility," "pragmatism," and "trust."

Afterward, participants enjoyed a wonderful time socializing over traditional performances and delicious Swiss food and wine. It was a heartwarming opportunity for Swiss citizens and their families living in Japan, as well as Japanese friends who love Switzerland, to gather and celebrate this special day together.

A big thank you to the Swiss Club Tokyo and the Swiss Society of the Kansai for organizing these wonderful events and for keeping this important tradition alive 🎉✨

On the occasion of August 1st, President Parmelin addresses Swiss citizens living abroad.
Reflecting on the first months of a year marked by the devastating fire in Crans-Montana and, internationally, by numerous wars and crises, President Parmelin emphasizes the power of international solidarity, cohesion, and shared democratic values. Drawing inspiration from Sir Peter Ustinov’s reflection that "an optimist is aware of the world’s problems and still doesn’t lose heart," he calls on the Swiss community around the world to stay confident, steadfast and united in these changing times.

吹田市の小学生にスイスの魅力をご紹介🇨🇭✨

大阪府吹田市とスイスはこれまで、大阪・関西万博のスイス政府代表部メンバーの吹田の盆踊り大会への参加、吹田市主催平和シンポジウムでのダビッド・ブラウン公使の登壇、スイスのユースジャズバンド「Swing Kids」コンサート開催などを通して、深いつながりを育んできました🎶🤝

こうした交流の一環として、7月10日と13日、在日スイス大使館のサラ・ボックマンと広瀬綾子が吹田市内の小学校3校を訪問し、小学6年生の皆さんにスイスの魅力や文化を紹介しました🎒🇨🇭
スイスの言語や豊かな自然、チーズ文化に関するクイズに挑戦、教室は子どもたちの好奇心と笑顔、そして熱気に包まれました😊

Presenting Switzerland to Elementary School Students in Suita City! 🇨🇭✨

Suita City and Switzerland share a strong friendship, from Swiss Expo representatives joining Suita’s Bon Odori festival to Deputy Head of Mission David Braun’s participation in the Suita Peace Symposium and a concert by the Swiss youth jazz band “Swing Kids.” 🎶🤝
Building on these exchanges, our embassy members Sarah Bokman and Ayako Hirose visited three elementary schools in Suita City on July 10 and 13 to introduce Switzerland and its culture to 6th-grade students! 🎒🇨🇭
Through quizzes about Switzerland’s languages, nature, and cheese culture, the classrooms were filled with curiosity, excitement, and smiles. 😊
Thank you to the students, teachers, and everyone involved for the warm welcome. It's always rewarding to see this connection reaching the next generation! 🕊️🤝

Launched right after the successful moon landing, this rocket-shaped ice cream bar features three distinct layers. A Swiss colleague described this ice cream as "the nostalgic taste of summer holidays." Even now, more than 50 years later, it remains a beloved national favorite.

Did you also know that Swiss technology played a crucial role in humanity's first moon landing ?
🎥 The camera that recorded the lunar surface was fitted with lenses made by Kern & Co. in Aarau, Switzerland.

…ですが、内陸国のスイスには海がありません。その代わり、スイスの人々が夏に楽しむのが湖や川での水遊びです。スイスは「ヨーロッパの水源」と呼ばれるほど、美しく豊かな水資源に恵まれています。
今日は、そんなスイス流の水辺での過ごし方をちょっとご紹介。

🇨🇭 首都ベルンの名物「アーレ川泳ぎ」
仕事帰りに服を防水バッグに詰め、そのまま川に飛び込んで流れに身を任せながら家路につく人もたくさん。豪快な川下りスイミングは、ベルンの夏の風物詩です。ただし安全には十分にご注意を。ベルン市は泳ぐ際の注意事項を周知しています（英語：コメント欄でご覧ください）。

🏞️ まるでビーチ？湖畔のリゾート

20 July is Marine Day in Japan 🌊.. however, as a landlocked country, Switzerland has no "sea." Instead, Swiss people love to spend their summer splashing around in lakes and rivers. In fact, Switzerland is blessed with such beautiful and abundant water resources that it is often called the "water tower of Europe."
Today, we would like to share a little bit about how the Swiss spend their time by the water.

🇨🇭 The Famous "Aare River Swim" in the Capital, Bern
After work, many people pack their clothes into waterproof bags, jump straight into the river, and float their way back home. This exhilarating river swim is a signature summer tradition in Bern. However, safety comes first! The City of Bern provides guidelines for safe swimming (please check the comment section).

🏞️ Feels Just Like the Beach? Lakeside Resorts
Around Lake Geneva and Lake Zurich, people don't just swim; they spread out picnic blankets on the lawns to enjoy picnics and sunbathe. Even without the sea, you'll find a lively, open waterfront atmosphere.

スイスからはチューリヒ（5位）とジュネーヴ（6位）、日本からは大阪（7位）と東京（10位）が、揃って世界のトップ10に選ばれました 🎉

📊 このランキングは、世界173都市を対象に「治安の良さ」「医療」「文化・環境」「教育」「インフラ」の5つの分野から、どれだけ快適で安全に暮らせるかを毎年評価しているものです。

🏙️ 時間通りに走る電車、蛇口から出るきれいな水、治安の良さや質の高い医療・教育など……スイスと日本には、日々の「当たり前の安心と快適さ」を大切にしているという共通点があります。今回の結果は、両国が暮らしやすさを求めて重ねてきた努力の賜物でもあります。

We have some wonderful news from the Global Liveability Index 2026 released by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). Zurich (5th) and Geneva (6th) representing Switzerland, and Osaka (7th) and Tokyo (10th) representing Japan, have all proudly secured a spot in the global top 10 🎉

📊 Every year, EIU analysts assess 173 cities across five key categories, stability, healthcare, culture & environment, education and infrastructure, to measure how comfortable, and how safe, a city really is to live in.

🏙️ From trains running perfectly on time and clean tap water, to safe streets and high-quality healthcare and education...Switzerland and Japan share a deep commitment to the "everyday peace of mind and comfort" we often take for granted.
