General MORITA Takehiro, Chief of Staff, Koku-Jieitai (JASDF) met with Ms. HANZAWA Shoko, Head of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Japan.
The ICRC is an international humanitarian organization dedicated to protecting and assisting victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence, as well as promoting international humanitarian law. The Koku-Jieitai fosters understanding of international humanitarian law and maintains regular dialogues with the ICRC among legal experts.
Acknowledging the growing importance of complying with international humanitarian law in light of the situations in Ukraine and the Middle East, General Morita and Ms. Hanzawa discussed the significance of sustained engagement between the Koku-Jieitai and the ICRC.
The Koku-Jieitai will continue to promote compliance with international humanitarian law.
