The Upendo Conservation Area is set aside for the community of Mwiyenga and its visitors to enjoy nature and to protect the remaining wildlife along a segment of the Nakhwana River. This wildlife includes a variety of frog species that use the conservation area for breeding. The conservation area is currently under development, but it includes a tree nursery for growing 10,000 indigenous trees to
be planted in the conservation area and in the community. Proposed plans for the area include a small hiking trail, benches for sitting and enjoying nature, and some educational programs for the community.
