AMUKURA CENTRAL WARD BENEFITS FROM CRIIP PHASE II UNDER ROUTINE ROAD MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME

Today, works were undertaken in Amukura Central Ward, Teso South Sub-County, along the 4.3-kilometre stretch from Kamarinyang Primary Road to Simba Chai, connecting to the Simba Chai Cassava Plant and the Shopping Centre.

The scope of works include grading and gravelling, with a total of 11 kilometres of roads being improved across the ward to enhance accessibility

Residents have welcomed the initiative, terming it a timely intervention that will significantly reduce transportation costs and ease movement, especially for school-going children.

The CRIIP Phase II projects, being implemented across all wards, are aimed at strengthening the county’s road network, boosting local economic activities, and improving livelihoods across Busia County.

H.E. Dr. William Ruto, CGH, President of the Republic of Kenya, has arrived in Busia County,for an extensive two-day tour.

At Mundere, the road has been commissioned for the construction of the Mundere–Okando–Mumbaka–Sio Port–Nangina Road, which traverses both Budalang’i and Funyula constituencies.

This project forms part of a KSh 3 billion investment by the Government of Kenya for road rehabilitation in the county.

ROADS DEPARTMENT COMMISSIONS PHASE II OF BUKIRI–TAKHUMBA–MUMBAKA JUNCTION ROAD AHEAD OF PRESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT TOUR

The Department of Roads, Public Works and Transport today oversaw the commissioning of Phase II of the upgrading of Bukiri–Takhumba–Mumbaka Junction Road to bitumen standards, covering 8.5 kilometres.
The project, commissioned by Busia Governor Paul Nyongesa Otuoma, is expected to improve connectivity by linking Bukiri, Sio Port, and Budalangi Constituency,

This will go along way enhancing mobility and economic activities in the area ahead of the Presidential Development Tour in Busia County.

The Governor noted that the road project will also create casual employment opportunities for local residents during the construction period and urged the community to remain patient as more development projects are rolled out through collaboration between the County and National Governments.

The commissioning was attended by County Executive Committee Members, Chief Officers from the Department of Roads and Finance, and Members of the Busia County Assembly led by the Majority Leader.

GOVERNOR TO COMMISSION UPGRADE OF BUKIRI - TAKHUMBA - MUMBAKA ROAD TO BITUMEN STANDARDS.

Tomorrow marks another important milestone as H.E. Dr. Paul Nyongesa Otuoma, Governor of Busia County, will officially commission the upgrade of the Bukiri - Takhumba - Mumbaka Road to bitumen standards, a project that will see the road fully improved to enhance connectivity, ease transportation, and support economic activities in the area.

The upgrading of this road reflects the county government's continued commitment to addressing the needs of residents and improving infrastructure for sustainable development.
