Malaba Transporters Sacco consultative meeting with stakeholders.

Matatus( PSVs) in Malaba and the town itself is in a horrible state because of congestion caused by Boda bodas, conductors, and drivers failure to maintain discipline, laid down procedures and noncompliance to the highway code.

The Bodaboda sector's habits of creating parkings everywhere, entrance to shops must be checked to bring order and sanity. It is also a concern how they mourn their loved ones, making noise and obstructing other road users. They should mourn peacefully.

Bungoma - Malaba road has become a dumping site of unroadworthy passenger service vehicles (PSVs that have been rejected in other areas. New vehicles are procured for other routes, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nairobi, and Kakamega and the old unroad worthy ones directed to Malaba.

Picking passengers and luggage along the highway is an offence,
Designated areas :
- Malaba main stage
- Road block and
- Kajei bridge.

Matatu owners (the bosses) must involve themselves actively in vehicles to comply with requirements and the discipline of their drivers.

Western Sharks Sacco was singled out as notorious in breaking rules and noncompliance.

All Saccos are hereby given a week to comply with all the requirements or face full force of the law.

In attendance:

- Board Member (Malaba Municipality) - Chairperson Urban Planning, Environment and Development Control - Robert Imamai.
- Madam OCS - Shiyonga Joyce
- Base commander - Michael Were
- Deputy Base Commander - Frederick Ekuwam

Manager Francis Asoyong today held a consultative meeting with Municipal casuals where encouraged part of the team which has been volunteering to keep Malaba clean even after contracts expired in the month of September to keep on working. The process to renew casuals contract is on course but it won't be a large number like it was previously, but a small team that is committed with specific job descriptions.

He highlighted that this casuals are from within the Municipality's four wards - Amukura West, Malaba South, Malaba Central and Malaba North. Asoyong tasked them to become ambassadors and own the ongoing process putting up a formidable foundation to be remembered. They have had a chance to offer services and understand Municipal operations. We need to create order and have more citizens engagement forums in this town - That is the main thing we'll do this year, to bring order in Malaba town.

Also in attendance were the Municipal Accountant Herman Emoit and the in charge of Human Resource Richard Ichami.
