Our health approach is currently shifting towards a more comprehensive, preventive and responsive healthcare system, anchored on early detection, timely intervention and quality care.

Today’s commissioning of a new drug store, postnatal ward, dental unit, radiation section and Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) programme at Huruma Sub-County Hospital marks another step in this transformation.

These services will strengthen diagnosis and treatment, improve maternal and newborn care, expand access to dental and specialised services, and enable healthcare workers to detect and respond to conditions earlier, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances in search of care.

A strong health system is built through sustained investment in innovation, skills and strategic partnerships that enable us to deliver timely, quality and equitable care to our people.

This morning, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Moi University and AMPATH to strengthen the use of Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) across our health facilities.

This partnership will support training and capacity building for healthcare workers, promote early and accurate diagnosis, and strengthen clinical decision-making at the point of care.

We remain committed to embracing technology and building partnerships that improve health outcomes and bring quality healthcare closer to our people.

The health of our people is central to the development of our County and our nation. That is why we are strengthening public health, with greater emphasis on prevention, preparedness, screening and early intervention.

This morning, I launched the new Public Health Hub at the Uasin Gishu County Headquarters, one of its kind in Kenya, expanding the range of essential public health services available to our people.

The Hub brings key services under one roof, including public health licensing and certification, screening services, mandatory vaccinations and inoculation for international travellers, health requirements for food handlers, among other services.

This is part of our broader investment in a modern and responsive health system, one that puts prevention and early detection at the centre while bringing services closer to the people.

The United States continues to emerge as a formidable partner to the County of Champions, with our cooperation spanning key areas including health, education, agriculture and sports.

Our twinning arrangements with states in the US provide an important framework for strengthening people-to-people ties and expanding practical cooperation, particularly in sport, where Uasin Gishu has a rich tradition of producing world-class athletes.

Held discussions with US Embassy officials, led by Consul General Nathan Flook, together with the Athletics Kenya team, on opportunities to deepen sports cooperation, nurture talent at the grassroots and create stronger pathways for our athletes to develop, compete and excel internationally.
