Northern Water Water Works Development Agency, in collaboration with key stakeholders, participated in the 33rd World Water Day celebrations held at Mwerongundu Junior Secondary School in Igembe North, Meru County.

This year’s theme, “Water and Gender,” highlights the critical importance of inclusive access to water and sanitation in promoting equality and sustainable development. The event marks a significant milestone in the water sector and reaffirms the Agency’s commitment to developing, managing, and maintaining water and sanitation infrastructure to improve livelihoods and support economic growth.

The team engaged with stakeholders, partners and customers showcasing ongoing projects and achievements while gaining valuable insights to inform and strengthen future initiatives.

In line with the Performance Contracting Guidelines for the FY 2024/2025, the Northern Water Works Development Agency (NWWDA) underwent an evaluation by the Public Service Performance Management Services (PSPMS) on 2nd December 2025.

Performance evaluation marks the culmination of the performance contracting process and is carried out with a strong emphasis on objectivity and integrity. Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are required to provide verifiable and well-documented evidence of their achievements against the agreed performance targets. To ensure fairness and accuracy, PSPMS conducts physical verification of reported achievements wherever possible.

Following the moderation exercise, NWWDA attained a “Very Good” rating, representing a 100% achievement of all set targets.

Present during the evaluation were the Agency’s Chairperson, Hon. Nasra Sahal Ibrahim; Agency Director, Ms. Christine C. Kibet; Chief Executive Officer, CPA Andrew Rage; Lead Evaluators; and members of the management team.

This morning at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), the Chairperson of the Northern Water Works Development Agency (NWWDA), Hon. Nasri Sahal, and the Chief Executive Officer, CPA Andrew Rage attended a consultative meeting convened by the Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service, Mr. Felix Koskei.

PRESIDENTIAL LAUNCH OF MARALAL WATER SUPPLY PROJECT, SAMBURU COUNTY

His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto officially launched Phase I of the Maralal Water Supply Project in Maralal, Samburu County.

The project, which sources its water from the recently completed Yamo Dam, aims to significantly enhance the reliability of water supply in Maralal Town by strengthening the existing system and addressing the long-standing challenge of inadequate water provision.

Upon completion, the project will mark a major milestone in improving access to clean, safe, and reliable water for the residents of Maralal Town and its environs.

The President was accompanied by the Governor of Samburu County, the Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, Eng. Mugaa Murithi Eric, and other senior government officials.

NWWDA Appears Before Senate Committee on Inclusivity and Equal Opportunity

The Northern Water Works Development Agency (NWWDA) today appeared before the Senate Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunity, chaired by Sen. Mohammed Chute (Marsabit) to present its progress report on inclusivity, gender balance, and regional representation.

The Agency’s delegation, led by Chief Executive Officer CPA Andrew Rage and accompanied by members of the management team, outlined the deliberate efforts undertaken to promote inclusivity within the organization.

The CEO reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to maintaining fair and transparent recruitment processes that reflect Kenya’s diversity.

PS Water and Sanitation Chairs Progress Review Meeting for Marsabit Sewerage Infrastructure Project

This morning, the Principal Secretary for Water and Sanitation, Mr. Julius Korir, CBS, chaired a management meeting to review the progress of the Marsabit Sewerage Infrastructure Project. The meeting brought together the Project Engineer, Supervisor, Consultant, and Contractor, and served as a follow-up to the site visit conducted by the PS in September.

Also in attendance were the Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Water Works Development Agency, Mr. Andrew Rage, and the Managing Director of the Marsabit Water and Sanitation Company, Mr. Stephen Sora.

PROJECT INSPECTION UPDATE – MARALAL WATER SUPPLY PROJECT -MARALAL, SAMBURU COUNTY

Today, the Principal Secretary for Water and Sanitation, Mr. Julius Korir, CBS, accompanied by the Deputy Governor of Samburu County, the Chairperson of the Northern Water Works Development Agency (NWWDA), Hon. Nasri Sahal, and the CEO, Mr. Andrew Rage, conducted an inspection of the ongoing Maralal Water Supply Project in Maralal, Samburu County.

The project, which sources its water from the recently completed Yamo Dam, seeks to significantly enhance the reliability of water supply in Maralal Town by augmenting the existing system and addressing the long-standing challenge of inadequate water provision.

The project scope includes:
• Construction of a Water Treatment Plant with a capacity of 9,000 m³/day
• A 1.4 km raw water main from the dam
• Installation of main transmission pipelines to Maralal Town

Once completed, the project will mark a major milestone in improving access to clean, safe, and reliable water for the residents of Maralal Town and its environs

The Northern Water Works Development Agency (NWWDA), led by Chairperson Hon. Nasri Sahal, joined President Dr. William Ruto for a tree-planting event in the 33,000-hectare Mau Forest Complex. This initiative supports the Integrated Conservation and Livelihoods Improvement Programme (MFC-ICLIP), which aims to contribute to the national goal of planting 15 billion trees.

NWWDA remains committed to environmental protection through partnerships with the government and other stakeholders, striving to conserve natural resources while enhancing local livelihoods.
