TANA RIVER BUDGET SIGNED!

After weeks of back-and-forth between the County Executive and the County Assembly, Governor Maj. (Rtd.) Dr. Dhadho Godhana has finally assented to the 2026/27 County Budget, bringing the budget impasse to an end.

The assent paves the way for the implementation of planned development programmes, projects and essential services across Tana River County.

With the budget now in place, the focus shifts from debate to delivery, from plans to action, and from promises to results.

The people of Tana River are watching!

TANA RIVER WINS TWO MORE AWARDS AT MOMBASA INTERNATIONAL ASK SHOW 2026!

Tana River County has won again!

The County has scooped two more awards at the ongoing Mombasa International ASK Show 2026, emerging:

1) County with Most Points in Cereals
2) County with Most Points in Livestock Products

The trophies were presented by Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Mutahi Kagwe, who was the Chief Guest representing President William Ruto, and received on behalf of Tana River by Chief Officer for Agriculture, Faith Buya.

The latest victories come shortly after Tana River was crowned Best County Stand and 1st Runners-Up in Best County Department Stand, with CS Kagwe also visiting the County stand following its impressive performance.

The awards reflect Tana River’s growing agricultural potential and commitment to climate-smart agriculture, livestock development, innovation and value addition.

TANA RIVER COUNTY EMERGES BEST COUNTY STAND AT MOMBASA INTERNATIONAL ASK SHOW 2026!...AGAIN!!!

Tana River County has done it again!
The County has emerged Best County Stand at the Mombasa International ASK Show 2026, while also securing 1st Runners-Up in the Best County Department Stand category.

The achievement is a testament to the County Government’s commitment to promoting agriculture, livestock development, climate-smart agriculture, innovation and value addition, while showcasing the immense potential of Tana River County.

The county stand impressed the judges through its presentation, innovations, agricultural products, value-addition initiatives and demonstration of the various programmes transforming the lives of farmers and livestock keepers across the county.

Speaking after the announcement, Faith Buya, Chief Officer for Agriculture congratulated the team for the achievement, noting that the awards demonstrate the potential of Tana River’s agricultural sector.

“This recognition is a great achievement for Tana River County. It demonstrates what we can accomplish when we work together, embrace innovation and showcase the agricultural potential of our county. We dedicate this achievement to our farmers, livestock keepers, value-addition groups and all the officers who worked tirelessly to make our stand a success.”

The awards come as Tana River continues to position itself as a leading destination for climate-smart agriculture, livestock production, fisheries, value addition and sustainable livelihoods.

TANA RIVER COUNTY IS READY TO MAKE ITS MARK AT THE MOMBASA INTERNATIONAL SHOW 2026!

The Mombasa International Show officially kicks off today, September 2, at the Mkomani Showground, Mombasa, running through September 6.

Judges yesterday toured exhibitors’ stands, including the Tana River County stand, and assessed the county's entries across four categories.

The winners will be announced during the official opening, which is expected to be graced by President William Ruto.

Tana River, which emerged Best County at last year’s show, returns this year determined to showcase its innovation, culture and development achievements under the theme:
“Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Sustainable Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth.”

COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF TANA RIVER ANNOUNCES REDEPLOYMENT OF SENIOR OFFICERS!

Governor Maj. (Rtd.) Dr. Dhadho Gaddae Godhana has announced the redeployment of three senior officers within the County Government of Tana River, aimed at strengthening capacity, improving efficiency and enhancing service delivery to residents.

The changes, which take effect immediately, are as follows:

1. Mariam Bunu, formerly County Chief Officer (CCO) Finance and Economic Planning, has been appointed CCO Public Service Management, Administration, Devolution, Communication Technology, Protocol and Public Communication.
2. Tolla Berhe Yona, Director Finance and Economic Planning, has been appointed Ag. County Chief Officer (CCO) Finance and Economic Planning.
3. Ali Abae Mluwa, formerly County Chief Officer (CCO) Public Service Management, Administration, Devolution, Communication Technology, Protocol and Public Communication, has been appointed CCO Health and Sanitation.

The changes have been made pursuant to the relevant provisions of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 and the County Governments Act, 2012, and are intended to strengthen the County Government's capacity to deliver efficient and effective services to the people of Tana River.

The changes take effect immediately.

TANA RIVER COUNTY LAUNCHES NEW ELECTRONIC STAFF PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL SYSTEM (SPAS)

The County Government of Tana River, through the Office of the County Secretary and Head of Public Service, has launched and commenced training on the new electronic Staff Performance Appraisal System (SPAS).

The training was held at the Sub-County Boardroom in Hola and brought together Directors, Sub-County Administrators, Sub-County Heads, HR Officers, ECDE Coordinators and other staff.

It was led by Immaculate Mpuyu Lugwe, Assistant Director - Performance Management, who guided participants on the use and implementation of the new digital system.

The electronic SPAS is designed to strengthen performance management, accountability and service delivery by providing a structured platform for setting targets, monitoring progress, conducting appraisals and providing feedback.

Speaking during the training, Lugwe encouraged staff and supervisors to embrace the digital platform and actively participate in its implementation.

She further noted that ICT Officers will provide technical support, while Sub-County Administrators and Heads will cascade the training to staff within their respective jurisdictions.

The launch is part of the County Government’s continued efforts to build a more efficient, accountable and performance-driven public service for improved service delivery to the people of Tana River County.
