Yesterday, I supported a few teachers to attend a mental wellness and entertainment event in Kisumu. I am encouraged by the positive feedback coming in.
My appreciation goes to Dherok Peter Omolo and the Story Makers Society for using stories, dances and songs to creatively highlight the realities and effects of mental health challenges in our daily lives.
Beyond the seminars that we have done as unionists, sharing real-life experiences through storytelling can help teachers connect, reflect and stay mentally healthy.
I have requested that the event be brought to Homa Bay so that more teachers can benefit.
Mental wellness is not just about posting tips on how to stay well. It is also about sharing experiences, listening to the stories of our heroes, learning from one another and holding on to the hope that tomorrow can be brighter than today.
I can also make Homabay warmer and more inspirational, meanwhile, I am keeping the sponsorship close to my heart and even more subtle.

TSC DRESS CODE FOR MALE TEACHERS AHEAD OF SCHOOL REOPENING TOMORROW

★ According to TSC Kenya guidelines, MALE TEACHERS must wear formal or smart-casual attire that is decent and professional.

✅Shirts:

– Collared, buttoned, and well-ironed shirts. T-shirts (round neck) and shirts with loud, flashy, political ogans or jersey are STRICTLY forbidden.

✅ Trousers:

– They should be extra large, formal slacks or smart-casual trousers are required. Jeans, torn fabric, or sagging and tight trousers are strictly PROHIBITED.

✅ Footwear:

– Expensive, closed, formal, and polished either in black/ brown.

– Slippers, sandals, or sportswear/trainers are not allowed unless for medical reasons - with evidence from a doctor.

✅ Grooming:

– Hair should be kept neat, clean, and well-groomed and trimmed.

Accessories:

– No jewelry is allowed. Caps or hats are highly discouraged, especially when in class.

This dress code ensures teachers maintain a professional image, avoiding clothing deemed provocative or too casual.

★ Teachers must dress to reflect authority, respect professionalism and be role models to the learners.
