Mr. Peter Pushati, Director of Climate Change, represented the County Department of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change at the Validation Workshop on the ROAM and PES Study Report held at Sawela Lodge, Naivasha.

The workshop, organized by the NEMA–GEF 7 Implementation Team, brought together stakeholders, technical experts, and environmental practitioners to review and validate baseline study findings, strengthen technical recommendations, and identify practical pathways for landscape restoration and sustainable land management within the project areas.

Discussions focused on the implementation of the Restoration Opportunities Assessment Methodology (ROAM) and Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) approaches aimed at enhancing climate resilience, restoring degraded ecosystems, and improving community livelihoods in Matapato North and South, Ildamat, Iloodokilani, Keekonyokie, Ewuaso, and Mosiro Wards.

The County Government of Kajiado remains committed to supporting collaborative initiatives and strategic partnerships that promote environmental conservation, sustainable natural resource management, and climate resilience for the benefit of present and future generations.

KAJIADO SOUTH ENVIRONMENT STAFF MEETING-KIMANA

The Department of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change convened an official staff engagement meeting in Kimana, Kajiado South, chaired by CECM Madam Judy Neiyeiyo Pere, and attended by Chief Officer Mr James Ngugi, Director Climate Change Mr. Peter Pushati, NEMA County Director Mr. Mark Angwenyi, and county environment officers.

The engagement provided a platform for staff to present updates on their mandate, key achievements, and operational challenges in the delivery of environmental services at the sub-county level. Officers further shared field experiences relating to environmental compliance, enforcement, community sensitization, and general environmental management.

Directors provided updates on ongoing departmental programmes and strategic areas of collaboration, with emphasis on the FLLoCA program and other partner-supported initiatives focused on climate resilience, environmental conservation, and sustainable development across the county.

CECM Madam Judy Neiyeiyo Pere commended officers for their commitment, professionalism, and teamwork in service delivery. She reaffirmed the Department’s commitment to strengthening sub-county operations through capacity building and continuous institutional support to address identified gaps. She further emphasized the importance of adherence to the Employment Act, discipline, and integrity in public service.

NEMA County Director Mr. Mark Angwenyi explained the need for strict compliance with environmental laws and regulations, urging officers to deepen their understanding of relevant legal frameworks.

The meeting reaffirmed the County Government’s commitment to strengthening interagency collaboration, improving institutional capacity, and enhancing environmental governance and service delivery in Kajiado County.

NGONG ENVIRONMENT STAFF MEETING

The Department of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change held a meeting in Ngong, led by CECM Madam Judy Neiyeiyo Pere , bringing together departmental directors and the NEMA County Director. The engagement also included environment officers from Kajiado North, Kajiado West, and Ngong Municipality to strengthen coordination and improve environmental service delivery.

The forum provided an opportunity for officers to share field experiences, highlighting their roles in waste management, tree planting, environmental compliance, EIA monitoring, awareness creation, and ecosystem protection. Key challenges raised included inadequate equipment and PPEs, limited capacity building, communication gaps, and resource constraints affecting effective service delivery.

Directors updated the team on ongoing initiatives, including climate change programmes under FLLoCA, natural resources management efforts, and regulatory developments. NEMA emphasized the importance of compliance with environmental laws and strengthened enforcement mechanisms.

CECM Madam Judy Neiyeiyo Pere commended officers for their dedication and urged enhanced professionalism, teamwork, and collaboration. She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting sub-county operations and strengthening environmental governance systems across the county.

The meeting reinforced a shared commitment to coordinated environmental action and sustainable development in Kajiado County.

Strengthening Partnerships for Sustainable Water Solutions in Kajiado County

Today, the CECM for Water, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, Madam Judy Neiyeiyo Pere, together with departmental staff, paid a courtesy visit to World Serve International marking a key milestone in strengthening collaboration between the organization and the County Government of Kajiado.

World Serve International has successfully implemented over 36 community water projects across the county, making a significant impact on access to safe water. This partnership presents a valuable opportunity to deepen strategic collaboration, particularly with the Department , to scale up sustainable, reliable, and inclusive water solutions for communities in need.
