COUNTY ASSEMBLY DEBATES PREPAREDNESS FOR ANTICIPATED EL NIÑO RAINS

The County Assembly today dedicated a significant part of its Plenary Session to debating a Motion moved by Hon. Bernard Moloma (MCA Kenyawa Poka) on the preparedness of the County Government of Kajiado for the anticipated El Niño rains.

In his Motion, Hon. Moloma raised concerns over the potential impacts of heavy rainfall and El Niño conditions, including flash floods, destruction of roads, contamination of water sources, displacement of households, damage to public infrastructure, disruption of health and education services, livestock losses, disease outbreaks and other socio-economic effects.

Following deliberations, the House adopted the Motion and its recommendations, directing the Kajiado County Executive Committee to commence implementation of the stipulated preparedness and mitigation measures.

In an amendment Motion moved by Hon Naisiae Karia, the County Executive has further been directed to provide the County Assembly with an initial progress report within seven days of the adoption of the Motion, outlining the measures undertaken to enhance preparedness and protect residents, infrastructure and livelihoods.

The County Assembly remains committed to strengthening oversight and ensuring that the County is adequately prepared to respond to emergencies and protect the welfare of the people of Kajiado.

The Sectoral Committee on Finance, Economic Planning & ICT today held a public participation forum in Entonet Lenkisim Ward, Kajiado South.

Residents shared their priority development needs and highlighted the importance of timely implementation and completion of projects to ensure communities benefit from public investments.

The Committee appreciates the residents’ valuable input, which will help inform development planning, resource allocation, and service delivery across the Ward.

Tomorrow the Committee will pitch tent at Kenyawa Poka - Methodist Church of Kenya - Noosidan - Kajiado East at 10am. In the afternoon the Committee will meet Imaroro Ward residents at Mashuuru - MCAs Office.

Monday October 5, 2026: Kajiado County Assembly Committee on Finance and Economic Planning kicked off a public participation at Kajiado South : Rombo Ward and Kuku Ward.
The team presented the Annual Development Plan 2027/2028 Financial Year.
Hundreds of locals engaged the committee and identified development programs for the fiscal year 2027-2028.

Tomorrow the Committee meets locals at Entonet Lenkisim MCA's Office at 10am and Kimana Social Hall at 2pm.

COUNTY ASSEMBLY WELLNESS CAMP

County Assembly staff are today benefiting from a two-day Medical and Wellness Camp organized by Jubilee Medical Insurance and undertaken by medical specialists from Equity Afya within the Assembly precincts.

The wellness initiative provides Members and Staff of the County Assembly with an opportunity to access a range of medical and preventive health services, including general medical screening, PSA screening, Pap Smear, dental and optical screening, as well as a health talk focusing on respiratory diseases.

Addressing staff ahead of the health talk this morning, the Clerk of the County Assembly, Leboo Saisa, encouraged staff to make responsible and informed use of their medical covers and to take advantage of available preventive healthcare services. He also appreciated the County Assembly Service Board for ensuring access to comprehensive medical cover as part of the Assembly’s commitment to Members and Staff welfare.

The camp is running today, Monday, 5th October, and Tuesday, 6th October 2026, giving Members and staff an opportunity to prioritize their health through early screening, preventive care and access to professional medical advice.

The County Assembly remains committed to fostering a healthy, motivated and productive workforce, recognizing that the wellbeing of staff is integral to effective service delivery to the people of Kajiado.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN THE 2027/28 ANNUAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

The County Assembly of Kajiado is set to undertake public participation on the FY 2027/28 Annual Development Plan (ADP) next week.

The ADP outlines proposed development priorities and projects across key sectors, and provides a basis for resource allocation. The proposed resource framework projects approximately KSh13.30 billion in total revenue, with about KSh3.99 billion projected for development expenditure.

Public participation provides residents with an opportunity to bring community needs and priorities into the county planning process. It allows citizens to ask questions, propose projects, identify pressing needs, raise concerns and give views on the proposed development priorities.

Residents across Kajiado are therefore encouraged to be part of this public participation.

COUNTY ASSEMBLY ADOPTS REPORT OF THE LIAISON COMMITTEE ON COMMITTEE OPERATIONAL BUDGET CEILINGS FOR FY 2026/2027

The County Assembly on Wednesday adopted the Report of the Liaison and Committee Services Committee chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Daniel Kukan on the proposed operational budget ceilings for County Assembly Committees for the Financial Year 2026/2027.

The report was tabled on behalf of the Committee by the Majority Leader, Hon. John Loisa and seconded by Hon. Timothy Saigilu Kanka. Members underscored the need for synergy, teamwork, and prudent use of resources.

While contributing, Members emphasized that it is important for all Committees to work as a team in order to achieve a common goal of strengthening the Assembly’s legislative, oversight and representation mandate.

KAJIADO COUNTY ASSEMBLY ENGAGES KIAMBU EDUCATION COMMITTEE ON EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT

The County Assembly of Kajiado today hosted the County Assembly of Kiambu Sectoral Committee on Education, Science and Research for a benchmarking engagement focused on Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE).

The engagement was led by the Chairperson of the Education Committee, Hon. Joshua Saigilu, and centred on the operations, progress, opportunities and challenges affecting the ECDE sector. The benchmarking visit provided a platform for the two Committees to share experiences and practical approaches towards strengthening the delivery of quality early childhood education.

Hon. Saigilu appreciated the visiting Kiambu Committee for choosing Kajiado for the benchmarking engagement, noting that such inter-county exchanges provide valuable opportunities for learning, sharing experiences and identifying approaches that can enhance service delivery in the ECDE sector.

The engagement underscores the importance of collaboration and peer learning among County Assemblies in strengthening oversight, legislation and policy interventions that support quality and accessible early childhood education.
