Nandi County, Transnep Insurance Brokers Limited and AAR Insurance Roll Out Medical Cover Sensitisation Programme.

The County Government of Nandi, in partnership with Transnep Insurance Brokers LTD and AAR Insurance has commenced a medical cover sensitisation programme for county staff, which will be rolled out across all six sub-counties.

The programme kicked off in Emgwen Sub-County, where county staff were sensitised on the medical cover, available healthcare services, benefits, and how to effectively access and utilise the services provided under the scheme.

The sensitisation exercise is also aimed at promoting preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyles and regular medical check-ups, while ensuring that staff have a clear understanding of the healthcare benefits available to them and their dependants.

The programme is expected to continue across the remaining five sub-counties from tomorrow, providing staff with an opportunity to engage health service providers, seek clarification and gain a better understanding of the medical cover.

The initiative underscores the County Government of Nandi’s commitment to prioritising the health and wellbeing of its workforce. By ensuring that employees are well informed about their healthcare benefits, the programme seeks to contribute towards a healthy, motivated and productive workforce capable of delivering quality services to the people of Nandi.

Advancing Green Energy in Nandi’s Health Facilities.

CECM for Finance and Economic Planning, CPA Alfred Lagat, today held a consultative meeting with Hospital Management Committees, Medical Superintendents and heads of health facilities, together with our financial partners, KCB, to discuss the solarization of health facilities across Nandi County.

The initiative seeks to promote the adoption of green energy by harnessing solar power to provide clean, reliable and sustainable energy for our health facilities. The move will also help reduce dependence on conventional energy sources and lower operational costs.

The engagement with KCB is part of the County Government’s efforts to explore innovative and sustainable financing solutions that can strengthen health infrastructure while improving the efficiency and quality of healthcare services.

In attendance was CECM for Health and Sanitation, Dr. Angeline Kirui, alongside other health sector officials and stakeholders.
Through the adoption of green energy, the County Government remains committed to building a cleaner, more resilient and sustainable healthcare system for the people of Nandi.

Nandi County Sensitized on Equalization Fund Appropriation Act, 2026

Nandi County has undertaken a sensitization exercise on the commencement of the Equalization Fund Appropriation Act, 2026, County Commissioner and the CECM for Finance and Economic Planning leading a team of county technical officers during the engagement.

The exercise brought together key stakeholders to enhance understanding of the new legal framework, implementation process and the role of various stakeholders in ensuring the Fund achieves its intended objectives.

The Equalization Fund targets key development priorities, including water, health facilities and road networks, in Tinderet, Songhor/Soba, Chemelil/Chemase and Kapchorwa Wards.

The sensitization was attended by Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) from the four targeted wards, alongside county technical officers and other stakeholders. Their participation is expected to strengthen coordination and community representation in identifying and prioritising projects under the Fund.

The targeted interventions will help address critical infrastructure and service delivery gaps, improve access to essential services and promote equitable development across the beneficiary communities.

The County Government of Nandi remains committed to working closely with the National Government, elected leaders and communities to ensure effective, transparent and impactful implementation of the Equalization

Nandi Residents Give Views on ADP 2027/2028.

Residents across Nandi County have participated in public forums to give their views and propose development priorities for consideration in the preparation of the County Annual Development Plan (ADP) for the Financial Year 2027/2028.

The countywide exercise provided residents with an opportunity to identify projects and programmes they would like the County Government to prioritize in their respective areas, while also raising issues affecting service delivery and development within their communities.

The public participation exercise is anchored in law, with Section 115(1) of the County Governments Act, 2012 providing that, “Public participation in the county planning processes shall be mandatory.” The law further requires counties to facilitate participation by providing the public with clear and unambiguous information on matters under consideration in the planning process, including expected development outcomes and development options and their cost implications.

The exercise also forms part of the statutory process for preparation of the County Development Plan under Section 126 of the Public Finance Management Act, 2012, which requires every county government to prepare a development plan outlining its strategic priorities, programmes, performance indicators, budgets and proposed development activities.
During the forums, residents raised priorities touching on key sectors including roads and infrastructure, healthcare, water, agriculture, education, youth empowerment and other areas of service delivery. The proposals are expected to inform the programmes and projects to be considered in the 2027/2028 development plan.

The public participation process reflects the County Government's commitment to involving citizens in decisions that directly affect their communities. By taking development priorities to the grassroots, the county seeks to ensure that the ADP responds to the needs of residents and provides a basis for implementing programmes that have the greatest impact on communities.

The views and proposals collected from across the county will be consolidated and considered in the preparation of the ADP 2027/2028 before it is subjected to the subsequent statutory processes, including consideration and approval by the County Assembly.

The exercise therefore marks another important step in ensuring that Nandi's development planning remains participatory, responsive and aligned with the priorities of its people.

NANDI COUNTY GIS TRAINING CHAMPIONS EQUIPPED WITH KEY SKILLS
Nandi County has successfully concluded a two-day Geographic Information System (GIS) training workshop aimed at strengthening the capacity of departmental GIS Champions and enhancing the use of spatial data in planning, decision-making and service delivery.

The training, held from 20th to 21st August 2026 at the GIS Laboratory, Ardhi House, Kapsabet, brought together officers from various departments, including Lands and Physical Planning, Environment and Water, Education, Health and Sanitation, Roads and Public Works, ICT and Administration, Fire and Disaster Management, Revenue, Monitoring and Evaluation, Agriculture, Trade and Industrialization, and Culture.

The intensive training equipped participants with practical skills on the application of GIS within their respective departments and demonstrated how spatial information can be integrated into their day-to-day operations to improve efficiency, planning, coordination and evidence-based decision-making.

Nandi County appreciates the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the European Union (EU), and the Council of Governors (CoG) for their valuable support towards building the County's GIS capacity.

The CECM for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Hillary Serem, welcomed the FAO facilitators and expressed appreciation for their continued support in strengthening GIS capacity within the County.
The FAO facilitation team, led by Mr. Kevin Ochieng, commended the participating officers for their commitment, enthusiasm and willingness to learn, noting that their selection as GIS Champions reflects their potential to support the mainstreaming and effective application of GIS across County departments.

The training marks another important step towards strengthening data-driven planning, improved service delivery and smarter decision-making across Nandi County.

The CECM for Finance and Economic Planning, CPA Alfred Lagat, chaired a consultative meeting with the KCB Bank team led by Mr. Erick Naivasha to follow up on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) previously signed between the County Government of Nandi and KCB Bank.

The discussions focused on advancing the solarization of health facilities, aimed at reducing energy costs, improving reliability and promoting clean energy. Opportunities to support KENAWASCO in adopting solar-powered solutions for water supply and operations were also discussed.

The meeting further reviewed areas of collaboration with NATEX, while discussions with the Municipality focused on enhancing urban infrastructure through solar-powered streetlights and high-mast lighting to improve security and visibility.

The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of both parties to move from the MOU framework to practical implementation, leveraging strategic partnerships and innovative solutions to strengthen infrastructure, reduce operational costs and improve service delivery to the people of Nandi.
