No TTC Intake for 2025 KCSE Candidates

The September 2026 intake into Teachers Training Colleges (TTCs) for Primary Teacher Education will only be open to teachers upgrading from P1 Certificate to Diploma level. This means that the 2025 KCSE candidates will not be admitted into TTCs for primary education courses during this intake period.

According to the Ministry of Education, the decision was made because there are already many students currently training in TTCs and thousands of trained teachers who have graduated but are yet to secure employment. The government believes that continuing to admit large numbers of new trainees would further flood the job market and increase unemployment among teachers. Reports indicate that the suspension of TTC intake for new KCSE candidates could last for about three years.

Students who had plans of joining TTCs are therefore encouraged to remain calm and start exploring other career opportunities in TVET institutions, and other professional courses that match their passion and strengths. Education remains important, and success is still possible through many different career paths.

TSC relaxes Diploma qualifications in Seconary education. Those who got C Plain now qualify to take Diploma in secondary education.
TSC act 2026 now relaxes rules.

12/05/2026

Out of 268,714 candidates who scored C+ and above, only 207,308 successfully submitted applications by May 6 — representing 77% of eligible students.

61,406 students. Qualified for university. Didn't apply.

KUCCPS is giving them — and you — one more chance.
What's Opening May 16

KUCCPS CEO Dr Agnes Wahome confirmed the portal will reopen May 16 for a second revision window, closing May 22, 2026. The window serves both students who missed the first deadline AND those already placed who want to adjust their choices.

Why People Failed the First Time — And How to Fix It

The most recurrent issue was payment errors — students entered incorrect M-Pesa reference details during payment on the eCitizen platform. The fix: use the exact eCitizen reference code from the payment SMS, not the M-Pesa transaction code.

Two different codes. Most people used the wrong one. Now you know.

What to Do Between Now and May 16
✓ Go to students.kuccps.ac.ke — check your cluster points per course (already computed)
✓ Research cut-off points for courses you're targeting
✓ Use the new structure: Choices 1–3 = same course, 3 different universities. Choices 4–6 = backup courses
✓ Prepare your M-Pesa payment — save the eCitizen reference from the SMS
✓ Fill all 6 choices — don't leave any blank

One More Thing

KUCCPS CEO Wahome warned that many students selected courses and placed them in the "course basket" but never clicked the final submission button. Selecting is NOT submitting. You must click Submit — then pay. Until payment is confirmed, your application does not exist.

Select → Submit → Pay. In that order. Confirm payment. Done.

May 22 is the final window. No extensions after this. studoke.com for course research before you decide.
